Maaaaan James delivered BIG for us! My collaborator and I needed a vocal on short notice and James gave us an absolutely stellar heartfelt performance. It was clear he wasn't just collecting a pay cheque...you could hear the sincerity in his delivery from start to finish. Honestly he nailed it! Would work with this guy again in a second! Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Learn your instrument before you even consider recording it. This may seem like a silly thing to say, but I see too many people diving into the deep end of production and vocal or instrument recording without being competent at their instrument. Don't put the cart before the horse.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Over 10 years of professional experience in the industry working on countless projects for diverse projects. As well as an approach that aims to serve the song and bring the emotion required.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Listen to the rough demo of the song that is given to me many times, learn it inside out, and get a good understanding of the vibe that the client is after. Then get into my studio and give it my best.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: James Taylor, John Martyn, Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling, Irish trad music, and New Orleans music.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: It varies from lead vocals, backing vocals to production work. On Soundbetter, I have primarily done vocal jobs from lead on other artists original songs to lead on jingles for advertising campaigns. As well as some backing vocal jobs on various artists songs.
