Interview with Aaron Ford
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My first single. It showed me that I could make mix and master my own music. It gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: An Ep for a choir named Anointed Word.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I love analog. From the sound it gives to being able to touch the dials and knobs.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is that you will be pleased with your finished product.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love sound and hearing unity in music when it all comes together.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: There is a magic plug-in or process that can the music sound good.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have a clear idea of what you want to hear. It helps to have reference tracks. A great performance makes the song. Finally, a perfect mix is a done mix. Don’t over stress the small details.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: MacBook Pro, Steven Slate Vsx headphones, Akai midi keyboard, Antelope Audio Edge Go mic, 5tb hard drive.

A: Mixing in mono is essential to get balance
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip-hop, RnB, Live recordings, instrumentals

A: Vocal tuning, balance,

A: I bring clarity and balance to songs
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I always start with asking the client for a reference track to have an idea of what they want. Then I take a listen to the project and take notes to assess what’s going on.

A: For mixing and producing I use a pair of KRK studio monitors with a sub or I use the Steven slate VSX headphones. For mastering and some of my mixes I have access to an Ssl audio board with Genelec monitors and outboard gear.
