Interview with Arda Ünlü
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: "Baldıran Otu" is my latest album. I mixed and produced the music for vocals. It was a progressive metal and techno album. It tells so much about my perception of humanity. It is emotional and well mixed. And the musiciand i worked with were really talented.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: To work with strangers
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Nope, im pretty new
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Umm... we are living in the 21. century?
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That i'll try my best no matter what
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I can explain myself with notes more than words
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "I know that it's out of your style but can you do it" Dude, i don't have a style
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I do it for money. I totally do it to feed my ego.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What does the song tell us. Where are they going to use it. What is in their minds about the thing they don't know about.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Know how to describe the theme of your project. Feeling what does the song tell you is the most important thing.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A sound card, a mic, midi keyboard, an electro guitar and my pc
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'am producing music from 2019 to today. I just want to experience some feelings that i could only embrace with music. I want to produce music no matter what. The path doesn't matter.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Electronic sounds, deep emotions, juicy guitars.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Daft Punk. The way they organize songs and create sounds are really amazing.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Panning and equalizers are the most useful things to get a richer sound. Seperate your sound and use these tools and see the diffrence!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I listen metal most of the time but i usually record pop-rock and RnB songs.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Never staying in one way and my ability to mix ideas together. And I can change my feelings and my personality to write a song.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Creative ideas and blending unusual things together to find unique sounds.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Understanding the job, setting my mood according to the job, starting to record things, seeking for creativity and ideas to make the project uniqe, finishing the recording process and starting to mix, mastering and finishing touchs
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: A sound card, so many guitars, dynamic mics and guitar amps. I use cubase for mixing

A: Gojira, Tool, Lamb of God, Duman, Anathema, Daft Punk

A: Mixing, Mastering, producing music for projects and recording insturments
