m.c.squared on SoundBetter

Punctual producer pursuing prog, pumping out pop. Need your vocals tuned and timed? Easy. Session guitar or bass? No problem. Basic editing and session prep? I'll do it. What I really WANT to do though, is find some new artists that I really connect with and grow together. Let's make something unique!

I'm m.c.

I have been writing, playing, and recording music for more than 20 years - as a hobby. In 2018, I decided to turn that hobby into my full time career. What started in a bedroom corner has now evolved into an entire production studio and a growing portfolio.

I love music. Full stop. I think it is one of the most human things we do, and I adore the creation, the consumption, and the infinite diversity of it, regardless of genre. I want to create with you. I want to tell stories that move us, inspire us, and bring us together.

Interview with m.c.squared

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: Hybrid setup currently. Pro Tools and Logic capable with a deep collection of plugins. Melodyne Studio for multitrack vocal tuning. Neural DSP Quad Cortex and a dozen high end instruments for guitar and bass, along with a small collection of vintage and modern Mesa/Boogie amplifiers and cabs. Neve 1073 preamps for Neumann, Rode, and Shure mics into a Black Lion Seventeen for live instruments and voice. Focusrite Clarett 8PreX Thunderbolt is the converter for a maxed out Intel Mac Mini and a pair of Amphion One18s, powered by an Amphion Amp700.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: Steven Wilson, Howard Benson, Jens Bogren, George Lever, Michael Åkerfeldt, Aaron Marshall, Plini, David Maxim Micic

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: Most of my work right now is editing vocals and recording guitar. I've been fortunate enough to team up with a very busy pop producer who is constantly drowning in harmonies that need a little Melodyne, VocAlign, and some manual edits. I've been recording, and often writing, guitar and bass parts as well.
