Interview with Keeper Records

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: What is your initial goal and dream?

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Be sure to know what you would like to achieve, what are you goals and dreams.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: If I should pick one artist/band that I would love to work with it would The Prodigy.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: One of the greatest things that I learned early on was to USE --- YOUR --- EARS It's very easy to forget in todays DAW's since everything is very visualised.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I work on a variety of music, but the overall type would be bass-heavy music. This, of cause includes many genres, from hiphop, Trap, Dub, House etc.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: The communication between the artist and me, understanding the goals and direction the artist wants.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I will bring you a fresh set of ears and add enhancements that you might have missed, so that your song can be expressed the way it's supposed to.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: For both mix and mastering I always spend the first 20 minutes listening to the audio while taking notes. This will establish the "feeling" of the song and will assist in taking key decisions when doing a mix down or determining what type of vibe the master should enhance. Once I have made the first raw mix or master I will typically send it back to the client for feedback in terms of direction and the sounds. This will allow me to know if the direction the song is heading is aligned with the goals of the client.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: The studio setup and equipment for me is not the important factor. As I see it the most important factor is your ears and how well you can translate what you want into a mix or a master, with whatever gear you have.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: I'm inspired by all music that I find a liking to. This do spread across genres since theres always something unique and interesting in each and every genre.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: My typical work includes mixing songs in close contact with the client to ensure that the overall goal and feeling of the song is intact. This will sometimes evolve with the client into a combination of mixing AND small production changes to the mix.
