I'm here to make your song come out better than you ever imagined, and will not stop until I do. Award winning producer, mix and mastering engineer.
Hi! My Name is Sampson, and I am an Los Angeles based Producer and Mix engineer with over 15 years of professional experience. I also play guitar, keys and bass. I spent numerous years touring the world with signed acts that I also produced for.
I specialize in Singer songwriter, RnB, Soul, hip hop, and rock with an emphasis on vocals and a "throwback" sound. I grew up listening to the likes of James Brown, James Taylor, Carole King, the Beatles, and many others to give you an Idea of my background. I also specialize in recording organic instruments, including gtr, bass, drums, piano, Rhodes, and vocals (all 100% real, no libraries) at my studio if needed.
I am a hard working and reliable. I am easy going and always up for new Ideas and suggestions for new and different approaches to production and mixing. I have attended Cal Arts and MI where I studied guitar performance, vocal arrangement and jazz theory and have also spent the last 12 years playing in gospel gigs. My credits include Jimmie Allen, Olivia Holt, Chante Moore, Trinidad Cardona and Kevin Quinn, among many others.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Sampson
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: iajhi Hampden, he recommended this site to me. Amazing Drummer, I could not recommend him enough.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog. I believe it just sounds better. But digital has it's place as well, it just depends on what you're doing.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I've been fortunate enough to work with some amazing people, but current artists I'd love to work with would that I haven't got the chance to would have to include Bruno Mars, D'Angelo, Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith, Chris Stapleton, Adele.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: No amount of production, editing, tuning, mixing etc. will save a song if it's not strong to begin with. Focus on the writing first, the rest will come.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: The main styles I work on are usually Singer/songwriter, RnB, Soul, Pop, and Hip hop. I would say I specialize in "Throwback" sounds, usually incorporating organic instruments with programing
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Some producers have a "sound" that they bring to each of the tracks they work on, which is great if that is the sound you're looking for. I'm usually more focused on developing the unique sound of each individual artist, and always strive to listen and learn from every project I work on.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to open up as much communication with the client first thing. I want to talk about their music influences, background, where they see the project going, etc. I believe the more you know about the artist, the quicker you'll know what they are looking for.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a full production studio, ideal for tracking live instrumentation. Check out my equipment list for details.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mark Ronson, George Martin, Justin Stanley, Tame Impala, The Dip, Amy Winehouse, Alabama Shakes, etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Depending on the clients needs, very often I work with clients from the start, building the track and helping with the sound direction, instrumentation, songwriting, mix and master and whatever else is needed. I also commonly take produced tracks and provide mix and master services.
