I mix and master art!

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: There are two songs I worked on for my final project at school. We had to find an artist, write a song with them as well as do a cover in another style of a musician. Me and a fellow student engineered (mic placement) , tracked and produced the whole things. I mixed and mastered the songs and it was very rewarding. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Right now im working on mastering a 5 song Mix Taoe for a client. I sent him a sample of one song and he digs it. It really feels good when your client is happy! It is Rock tyoe of Hip Hop something new and inspiring at the same time. I can't wait to talk to him when it's finished. I will put a sample on my website when im done.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: Yeah Liv Music. He reffered me to this page and I have worked with him quite a bit and use him a a mentor. Great guy and easy to work with!

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: I go digital, I do everything in the box right now. My buddies got some analog stuff that sounds great, I believe it's all who is really sitting behind the equipment.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I will give you the best that I can do reallistically with what you send me. I promise you will be happy by the finished product.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I love being right in the middle of a mix. It feels like the earth stop's spinning and it's just me and the mix. Nothing better than that.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Can I out this on the radio. All my master's are radio and proffesionally ready.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: I cannot fix something that is broken. I just enhance what is there.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: Where are you from? What do you listen to? Where do you want to put these songs? How many Tracks? Are they edited? Do you want to use Melodyne or Autotune? Can I be creative or are you trying to match a certain sound?

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Communication is key. Be clear about what you want and have trust in the provider. We are here to get you to the next level of your project. Communicate every thought you have to help us get you what you want.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Solar power generator, My Mac, Speaker's, Guitar and Interface. HAHA

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I was in a reggae rick band called The LTG for about 12 years. I have been in Audio Productions for the past 2 years. I got my Associate in Audio, built a studio in the lower part of my house and started my bussines Oct. 1st 2016.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Not too sure I have a couple samples that's for you guys to decide. Im still learning my style and I think it can change with every genre of music. I match the style my client's want.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Just been a fan of them since I was a kid before they were cool or not cool. Between getting funky to hard stuff to slow ballad's I think there vibe would be great and positive and would be one too put in the history books.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Yes! Make sure it sounds the best you can get it before you hit the red button. Fix it now so you don't have to fix it in the mix. Less is the best.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Latley I have been working on americana/ country. With acoustic guitars, violins just real organic instrument it has been really fun. I love it! I just got a Mastering Job with a rapper so it's goin to be good to mix it up a bit.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My strongest skill communication.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring experience of being an artist for 12 years before starting this persuit in Audio Engineering. I know what an artist's expect's and wants.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I usually start with asking the client what are some bands that they would like to sound similar too. Get a feel from what they are coming from and what they are wanting to sound like. Get some good referneces and start mixing. After I do the revisions and succeed their vision I will go onto Mastering asking the same questions. As long as we are on the same page and have a reference the work process goes smooth. Communication is a must in the work process, sometimes I will go back and for 10-15 times with a client to make sure it is what they are looking for. Sometimes I won't just depends on the song and what it needs.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: My room is the perfect little setup for mixing and mastering. I had my teacher from SAE Institute come out and assist with sound proofing and it sounds amazing. you can hear a shaker pan from right to left so clear it's aeswome. I have a 15" retina Mac Book. 2.5GHZ intel Core i7, 16 Gb of memory plus a 3 Terabite Hardrive. Pro Tools, Abbleton and Logic Pro x as well as Kontact, Ozone 7 and a couple of awesome plug-ins and continue to progress every week in my additions.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I get inspired by almost every artist that has a dream and goes for it. Some of my inspiration comes from Chilli Peppers, Yelawolf and Rittz, Nahko Bear Medicine for the people. Yet all so different they made something of them selves from nothing. Some of my favorite production professionals are Malay, Eminem this sounds funny but ive got some friends of mine that I really look up to who make beats and own thier own studios. We are allways ready to help each other and continue to do what we love. They definetley inspire me to keep going.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: My most common work is Mixing and Mastering.
