Interview with SKŸE

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: Lots of Pop, Lots of RnB and mostly with female vocals or people with higher ranges. Growing up studying artists like Whitney and Beyoncé I found my range has sat a lot higher than other male vocalists. Because of it, I feel like I can really tune into a more feminine vocal style when it comes to range and choices.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: My strongest skill is my voice! I've been singing for years and feel like i've accumulated all the tricks of the trade in terms of what is classic and what is current within singing styles. I feel like I can easily shape myself into many different genres because of this!

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Some might make a song without any personal attachments and call it a day. I on the other hand love to invest in my artists ideas and help them uncover what it is they want to explore in quite a profound nature. Challenging the most out of the creative process in a way that feels resonant and intentional :) oh and i believe i make absolute bops hahaha

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: Typical work process includes a lot of therapy type talks with the artist, some gibberish melodies and a chord progression that speaks inspiration into the room! A lot of my work is in collaboration with producers in the room, so usually a vibe is already developed. If it's a one on one session, we start with chords or samples and go from there.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: The studio setup is a wholesome collection of gear I'd say. A few microphones including a Shure SM7B and a RODE NTK (which is a new fave of mine) some Rokit speakers and Logic Pro X as the DAW of choice!

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: I mean theres just too many to draw from! Vocally the likes of Brandy, Beyoncé and Jazmine Sullivan have been really big influences in my musical upbringing.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: Mostly Session work! Been lucky enough to be apart of some great collaborations both in the room and online.
