Hi my name is Constantin, I'm 25 years old and I am a professional music composer/producer as well as mixing and mastering engineer. I hold a bachelor degree in Sound & Music Production, which I studied at Hochschule Darmstadt in Germany. I'm also holding a degree in 'Audio Engineering', specialized in Mixing & Mastering at HOFA-College. I earned my practical experience while working and studying at a handful of great and big studios in Berlin, which are specialized in mastering, mixing, as well as acoustic scenography, movie sound and sound branding. I've been working with Constantin for a while already. About a year ago he mixed and mastered my first release ever (an 8 track drone/ambient album). He was not yet offering his services on SoundBetter at the time, but I was already highly satisfied with his work. He now did an awesome job again for mastering my most recent techno track. I learned a lot through his mixing advices from the time we worked together and could provide a much better mix already. Constantin really does put in the work!

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I just really like sound.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Know your tools, read the manuals so the expression of your creative potential won't be limited.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I am working on 3 film projects where I am composing and producing the film music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. It depends highly on the material. There is no worse or better and I just use the best from both worlds!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will make your good sounding recordings and productions sound even better and professional. Ready to be streamed, sold and published.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: There is magic in mixing and mastering but only to some degree. My service can only be as good as the initial work you put into your project. I am gladly gonna offer you feedback though, if I think there is still some work to be done beforehand.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communicate first.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My MacMini, my monitors + interface, my MFB Tanzbär, my Eurorack and a MIDI-Keyboard.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: At the age of 14 I stopped having piano and drum lessons and I shifted my interests to modern music production in a DAW. After graduating from school I moved to Berlin to discover new sound worlds for one year. Then I studied Sound & Music Production in Darmstadt for 4 years and since then I am working as a freelancer.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Since I learned to play the piano and the drums growing up, I am musically and rhythmically trained. I am always looking for unheard, sophisticated rhythms and melodies and the combinations of those, while staying minimalistic. There is always something to discover in my music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to collaborate with Caterina Barbieri.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on electronic music but I am not limited to it by any means. I am open for every genre.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is to have an analytical ear but also great empathy to really understand the soul of your project and what you are trying to convey.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring my ears and my expertise.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically I am working everything out with the client first so everyone knows what he gets and what to expect. Then I usually start immediately with the work and try to get it done within one week. (depending on the schedule and the project size)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I am working on a MacMini M1 machine, which has the power for big projects as well as for CPU hungry plug-ins. My monitors are Neumann KH310, which are the most neutral and linear sounding monitors I know and they will reveal anything which isn't quite right (yet). They are supported by my second pair of monitors which are the Yamaha NS10s. I also have 2 pairs of headphones (Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser) for the little details. I have high quality mixing and mastering plug-ins by the likes of UAD, Waves, Fabfilter and Softube. If your work needs an analog feel, I am summing it on my old vintage analog mixing desk. If your track needs some instruments to be replaced I have high end synthesizers, drum machines and samples.
