Interview with Andres Tripputi

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital. It's easier to use on the computer.

  3. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  4. A: If I can also write lyrics for their song, that's their most common question. And my answer is, yes, I could definately write lyrics for your song, but it will have an extra charge.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I'm currently working on a new unreleased single from my project Constant Reaction, which i'm hoping to release later on this year. In the meantime, i'm working as a freelancer to help me pay for all the expenses related to the project.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: I haven't really thought about it. Probably if I should charge less for the service I provide.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: Before starting working together: - if they already have music and lyrics written to start working. - if they worked with a previous provider here on Soundbetter. - if they have a deadline on when they'll need the material.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: A laptop, headphones, MIDI controller, an acoustic guitar, a microphone.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: Passionate, energetic, agressive, clean, focused, melodic.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Definately with bands such as: Bad Omens, Void of Vision, Northlane. They're bands that have a unique and fresh take on the heavy music side these days, and it would be such a delight to know how they come up with those things in the studio.

  17. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  18. A: Not yet, but I will soon.

  19. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  20. A: I would say that the project that i'm the most proud of and the one which I build from the ground up would be Constant Reaction, which is a Modern Alternative Metal band I started a few years ago, and it's the one i'm currently still working on. It's my first personal project where I am the main composer, lyricist, and also the lead vocalist. You can listen to one of the songs in my profile :)

  21. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  22. A: Create a nice positive work relationship between the two, and to guarentee fast and accurate delivery of files. My goal is for you to be happy with the result.

  23. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  24. A: Listening to all my client's compositions, and to work with them to finish their songs and make them sound awesome!

  25. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  26. A: Make sure that you're really want to work with such provider. Ask questions before placing an order, read their experiences and reviews from past clients, take a listen to their audio samples to see if they are up to your expectations, read their bio.

  27. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  28. A: I've been making and playing for almost 15 years and counting. I studied in different universities pursuing different degrees from Music Performance to Jazz Studies. I started in the music business as a drummer, and climbed my way up to be a professional singer and composer.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always be open minded. Don't be afraid to experiment with different ideas and resources by the time of writing or recording music. Have faith in what you're trying to accomplish, and if it takes you to a whole different path....go for it!. As long as you're happy with it :)

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I normally work on the area of Rock/Metal type of music, but honestly, I could do any type of genre. I love playing and singing different styles and to have a more wider knowledge, musically speaking. Those are experiences that definately goes on my portfolio.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I would say writing great hooks and vocal melodies for your song, or any song. I just love when a song has a very beautiful and catchy melody line to accompanies the music, and I tend to write the best melodies when the music inspires me and makes me feel something.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I would say, in terms of singing, a very passionate and strong vocal production. I always try to put myself in the client's shoes and would they sing or want the vocals to sound like for their songs. So, my goal is to write the best vocal lines possible for the song to have a strong impact, and definately very catchy hooks.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Once I received all the require files from the client, I will start the process by listening to the song given a few times or maybe a couple more if necessary, and just improvise and sing vocal lines to find the right fit. If I was privided with lyrics I will sing melodies over those lyrics, and try to come up with the right melodies for it. Then, I will setup my recording equipment to start recording once I have a solid vocal melody line. It will probably take me between 15 to 30 minutes to record all the vocals (leads, backing, adlibs). After the recording process is done I will then start editing the vocal tracks in order for them to be alignd with the music, and equilizing them a little bit...nothing to shavy. Once that's done, I will then proceed to export all the files and make sure everything sounds good once they been exported into seperate WAV. files.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I keep my setup humble. I have my personal laptop with my recording DAW and plugings, and nice RAM space. I have my professional condenser mic, which makes my vocal sound neat and clean. My vocal booth which is important to achieve a free-noise enviroment at the moment of recording. And of course my professional set of headphones.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Linkin Park was definately my first influence in Rock music during my teenage years. I become a drummer and a singer thanks to them.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I would say the most common type of work would be the writing and recording of vocals in a song. Clients normally come up to me and ask for my help in bringing existing vocals alive, and to be well recorded, or they would ask for me to write all the vocal melodies (including background vocals and adlibs) and record them for their song.
