Jules Konieczny on SoundBetter

I am a Producer & mix engineer based out of Urchin Studios in London. Tracks I have worked on have had millions of streams on Spotify alone and have been played on international radio countless times. I have produced & Mixed songs by the likes of Tom Grennan, Everything Everything, Bad Sounds, JVKE, Claptone & more.

Having been signed to Polydor Records and touring the world three times over I have landed myself where I love it best, producing and mixing songs I feel truly passionate and connected too. It is a very scary thing handing over your song to a producer or mix engineer, so I will do everything in my power to make sure we find the best sonic world for your song.

Songs I have produced and mixed have been played on BBCR1, BBCR2, BBC 6MUSIC & all of the global music platforms, as well as being synced on Fifa, Made In Chelsea & Prime time BBC dramas.

I have the capabilities to record anything out of my studio at Urchin Studios in London, so can offer the following services:

- Production & Recording
- Mixing
- Writing and developing of parts

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Working with Jules has been exactly what I was looking for in the production/recording of my two EPs! He is extremely talented on multiple instruments, very professional (which can be rare in this industry!), always open to trying out crazy ideas, and brings a ton of great ones of his own. I would 100% recommend working with him, he definitely takes songs to the next level and I'm already looking forward to collaborating again in the future!

I've worked with Jules for over 6 years on various projects and in various settings, from co-writing to music production to session playing. He's a great musician, takes the time to get to know you and figure out what you're looking for and how he can help you achieve that. He has a can-do attitude and is reliable (which can be hard to find in the music industry) and keeps an open mind, no matter how crazy your musical ideas are.

Jules is a one in a million type of guy. I’ve worked with Jules on many projects and on all sides of the creative process (from writing, to producing, to mixing and mastering); and all I can say is that he’s the guy you’re looking for if you want someone to fully grasp your project and make it come to life. He is extremely passionate, dedicated and hard working, and always delivers the best result possible. If you’d ask me to recommend you one person of all the people I’ve worked with in the past, it would be Jules, no doubt.

Working with Jules was an absolute dream. He took the bare bones of the songs we had an helped create a sublime EP that flows and grows and shines. He’s also a top guy and an all round extremely talented fellow.

Having worked alongside Jules on my debut EP, I can honestly say that not only was the whole experience a lot of fun, but Jules will dedicate his whole self to ensuring your songs are exactly what you want them to be - and more. Couldn’t recommend him more!

I have recorded multiple songs with Jules, each of them have been an absolute joy from start to finish. He will dedicate his life for those few days to making every small aspect of your songs sonics sound impeccable, and has a very delicate touch when it comes to mixing and mastering.

Interview with Jules Konieczny

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both have their perks. For inspiration and organic sonics, analog, but for the flexibility and ease of use, digital.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: After writing for a few years, my band APRE were signed to Polydor records and toured the world with the likes of Sam Fender, Friendly Fires, Half Alive and Inhaler. While APRE is still very much alive, out of my studio at Urchin I have begun to create a musical world of artists who I hold dear to me, and have worked on tracks from top UK and US artists, as well as writing for TV/Film.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: Less is more.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: My background is in a range of genres, however most of my work is in the Pop/Alternative/Indie/Dance worlds.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: We will start by discussing your influences, and where you feel the song sonically should head. Then we can begin building the song from the ground up, adding and developing parts until the song feels like it has been brought out to its full potential. Then it is about refining throughout the final production and mix stages, adding those final pieces of glitter that bring the song from a demo into a radio/DSP ready track, that hopefully sounds unique but equally retains whatever it is that you as an artist stand for.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: Most commonly I am involved from the production stage of the song onwards, including developing the parts, the sonics and eventually the mix process.

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: I will take time to delve into your artist world, to make sure that we get the most honest representation sonically of you as an artist.

  15. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  16. A: Taking a song from its birth, right through to seeing fans make it theirs.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: My musical home is in Urchin Studios in Hackney Wick, London, where I have the capabilities to record anything that feels right for your track. I run off ATC monitors and A/B with NS10's, through a Universal Audio interface. I have an upright piano and countless guitars, synths, bass guitars, percussion.
