Interview with LOWE
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of an EP I made for LOWE. (Afternoon Tales) I made the instrumentals for him. Why I'm proud of it is because it was the first time I got a review on a local blog.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I'm working on a couple of projects for LOWE.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I haven't been long on SoundBetter, so at the moment I have no clue.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: A bit of both but at the moment mainly digital. It's less of a hassle with repairing and interface. Analog still piques my interest, though it is really expensive.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Even with my limited experience, I'll do my absolute best to help you finish your project as you intended it to sound.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to make music and help others in their projects.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you make a track under these vocals? I'll do my absolute best.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That a young producer wants to work alone.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have any reference tracks? What should be my role in your project?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: You should take a provider, that makes you feel at ease. So you and the provider can make progress on your project.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Guitar Laptop Audio Interface Guitar Cable Ableton
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path is still really short. I have been doing this for five years. So I'm still quite inexperienced, though really hungry to learn as I go.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style at the moment is a quest between acoustic and electronic elements.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I think I would like to work with FINNEAS. Mainly for the fact that I enjoy the way he mixes electronic and acoustic elements, without one getting the upper hand on the other.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Save your sessions!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on indie pop songs with electronic add ons.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think my strongest skill is my drive for experience.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think I bring some decent guitar playing to a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Most song I make start as a guitar loop, that I expand on with drums. After these starting steps I will add bass or keys in what feels natural for the song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in Ableton Live 11 Suite. For monitoring, I use a set of Yamaha HS7. I'm also a guitarist so I mainly use my Fender Stratocaster or my Stafford Radiotone.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I think FINNEAS, Hans Zimmer and Stromae are the musicians that inspire me the most at the moment.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the work I do for my clients is producing.
