Interview with Silver Steel Studio
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Check out my YouTube channel and my Instagram account
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid with a preference for analog. I’m a big fan of analog gear and I have more than 30 pieces of analog units. In my setup each track is getting both, few essential plugins for surgical moves and an analogue chain of hardware units mainly compressors and saturators. This way I take advantage of the flexibility and precision of the modern digital world combined with the warmth and character of vintage analogue gears.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 4 Hardware: My Funky Junk summing mixer (loaded with vintage transformers from Neve, API and Trident consoles), my SSL bus compressor, my Bettermaker Pultec Style stereo EQ, my Finalizer. 1 Plugin: my SSL native channelstrip
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: A fusion between the vibe and the character of Old School records mixed with the precision and the polished sound of modern productions.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I’m specialized in Rock and Metal but I work also on all other genres
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Being a musician myself and Metal music reviewer for years, and having learned from some of the best producers and engineers of the genre, I can easily understand your expectations and help you point your music to the right direction.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: After receiving the files, I start working on your song, then I send you the first version mixed and mastered. We schedule a live remote mixing to discuss and to make the first revisions together, then I send you the second version. We can do as much revisions as needed (based on notes or during live remote sessions) until you are satisfied with the results.
