Endorse KairoInterview with Kairo
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: YES! Y2, Dez @goodguydez, Lex Lu!!!! I work with these amazing people in person.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always start with asking what your project is about and what your goal is for the project. I want to get a better understanding so I can tailor the sounds to what work for you. The more details the better.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, AKG headphones (for the cleanest mixes), acoustic guitar, power generator, midi keyboard.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path was to be a guitar player when I was a kid. I started playing guitar after playing songs on guitar hero on "expert" difficulty and saying "this is too easy, I want the real thing." I tried the band thing and I didn't like it too much so I jumped into producing and I can happily say I'm glad I'm doing it.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: You! Lol.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: SIDECHAIN YOUR 808S TO YOUR KICK. THANK ME LATER.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Lately I've been lucky enough to learn from great producers in the Pop and Hip Hop genre. So at the moment I'm working in those genres heavily on a regular basis. EDM and Hard Rock come naturally to me.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is song structure, variation, and dynamics. I can make a song sound BIG and take you on a musical adventure.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I grew up listening to hard rock and heavy metal. Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and all the other legends of rock inspire my sound even in the other genres I work in. I'm a student of this art, so I can pick up a style and produce based on your needs.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The work I usually do for clients is song production. I've produced a ton of songs for podcasts, television intros, and pilots. I can do short, catchy jingles as well as full length, dynamic songs.
