Larmie Garrett is an American gospel singer. Larmie was born in the Motown city of Detroit, Michigan in 1961 to the late James and Evelyn Garrett. Her mother hereafter referred to as Sis. Garrett. Larmie Garrett is an American gospel singer. Larmie was born in the Motown city of Detroit, Michigan in 1961 to the late James and Evelyn Garrett. Her mother hereafter referred to as Sis. Garrett. Larmies first gospel solo was I said I wasnt gonna tell nobody. Larmie began her music training at the age of five. Formal training began in high school and with Mattie Moss Clark School of Music in Detroit. Larmie also began singing and directing the childrens and youth choir at an early age, and joined several Gospel professional groups thereafter, including The Southwestern Church of God True followers of Christ. The Kenneth Wilson Concert Coral, and The Michael Mindengall Choir in Detroit, Michigan. Larmie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Management and went on for more formal voice training at the University of Detroit in Detroit Michigan. Larmie was greatly influenced by her mother's music instructions. Sis. Garrett was also a choir director at Southwestern Church of God. Sis. Garrett was famous for emphasizing stand up straight and sing from your diaphragm. Sis. Garrett also insisted on Larmie and her sisters taking formal voice training as well as private music lessons throughout their childhood.
