Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I really enjoy my song Sippin. I wrote the song, recorded all the instruments and chopped all the samples. 100% of that song was done by me... which is a really cool feeling. It's also currently my 3rd most popular song, so it makes me more confident with my work.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: DADDY NAT's next album. Soundtrack for a videogame. EP with Tone Royal.

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have a huge purpose for different things... but definitely digital. You can literally power a studio that would cost millions of dollars in analog gear, for $1500 on a laptop. It's not perfect yet, but it's absurdly more practical.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will make you whatever you want. You just need to be as specific as possible.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It's what I was born to do.

A: Customer: What's your price? Answer: What do you need to be done?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I don't just write songs or sing. I create musical ecosystems. Every song is its own world for you to vibe on.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What style of music are you going for? What type of feeling are you trying to emulate? What type of instruments do you want to be included? What's your timeframe?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be specific with what you want, and do your best to provide examples.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop. UA Apollow Twin. Slate Digital VMS Mic. Beach Chair and a Mini Fridge filled with beer.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was the lead singer of several rock bands for nearly a decade. My first band was formed in 2006 and I played in several different bands all the way up until around 2015. While I was in these bands, I was behind the scenes learning how to produce and eventually took a 180-degree turn and started releasing pop/hip hop music. I have now been releasing music as DADDY NAT for about 3 years, and been able to grow my audience dramatically each year.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Cowboy Pop
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Rick Rubin. He's my idol and who I try to emulate in the studio. I expect to one day be able to work with him as my DADDY NAT project. It's on my bucketlist.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't overthink anything. ever. The best music comes from the heart.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Soul and Hip Hop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Writing vocal melodies.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Soul. Whatever I make, I have to FEEL it and I bring over 20 years of experience writing songs and knowing how to adapt my melody to fit the song the best.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with the rhythm of the bpm of a track. Once I have locked in a drum beat I like, I record vocals over it and build up a melody progression. From here it is easy to figure out what works best as a chorus / verse / bridge / etc and I can then build around the melody with instruments.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My Studio includes multiple guitars, keyboards microphones, and digital synthesizers. I am able to record vocals, guitar, keyboards and even drums if the part requires it. Lastly I record on Ableton and Logic through an Universal Audio Apollo Twin Interface.

A: Rick Rubin. Dr. Dre. Mark Ronson. SAINt JHN. Brockhampton. XXXtentacion. Fall Out Boy. Any Motown record.
