Interview with Chuck Pain

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: I'm a newbie to this wonderful site, so I don't know any yet. I will certainly be remedying that.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: Each song means as much to me as it does to you. I write from the heart, so each and every client will get my utmost attention and each piece will be genuine.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Spending time at home with my son. I know that doesn't have much to do with music, but it is the best part. I get to share with him the wonderful process of bringing music to life. Aside from that. I love my client's reaction to finally hearing with their ears, what they had been hearing in their mind all along.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: Will I be the only one/band with this song? YES! Each song written is uniquely yours to do with as you please. If you write parts on my song do you get royalties? Nope. Payment is for the part itself, once created it is yours.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That it's easy. It takes many years to nail down a formula for writing songs that are all truly unique, while not losing precious time.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: Hands down, The Beatles. Going past that though, all of the members of the production team on their stuff too. George Martin, Geoff Emerick, Alan Parsons. They just really nailed it all. I do draw a lot of inspiration from songwriters like Jim Croce and Gordon Lightfoot, but also am a huge Mudvayne fan. I really draw inspiration from just about everywhere.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I really love turning someone's idea into a fully realized song. I've had many instances where people come to me with just a fragment of a song idea. So I will work with what they already know they love to turn it into a full song.
