Paradox 3.14 on SoundBetter

Self-taught producer, engineer, and vocalist Paradox has been developing as songwriter since she began performing as a spoken word artist in 2017. Her music has landed her in a male dominated cypher, on stages with the top influencers in central Arkansas, and is her driving action against mental and emotional restrictions placed on creators.

No one should feel trapped inside their own head. My songwriting ability targets freedom of both the highs and lows of emotional expression. The slightest details we tend to ignore are normally the bars that shake the listener to search for more. See what I mean? Every word counts. Every sound makes a difference. Every cadence directs the thought process of the listener. Allowing me to decipher thoughts then articulate them into easily understood lyrics and melodies is my superpower. Why would you not want to hire the superhero for job? Let me save you from boring your audience!
I've stood out as a performance artist who only ever performed her own songs without the lyric tracks for backup so that the audience could hear me. So that they could listen more clearly. The audience has never been disappointed. I say that with a humble heart, but not with a modest mind. However, I recently learned that the appreciation I have for music goes far beyond creating a persona for public display. I change people's minds with my words. I make people feel what only they can address. You don't need me to perform for you. You need me to help you get the right words and sounds together to correctly portray your message. That's what I intend to do.

And I don't waste time. Ever.
Not when it comes to music.

I am Paradox. It's nice to meet you. Now, how can I help You?

Interview with Paradox 3.14

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: "Ode to My Elders" is a poem turned into a collaborative project/video with an amazing dancer. My role was to perform the piece live on camera in multiple takes, record the poem at my studio, clean the vocals using my software, and send them back to the video producer.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Collaboration with a dancer in Texas, personal EPs, Mentorship and training with Ferocious Productions (AR)

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Ferocious Productions for all things engineering and production!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog for learning, digital for transferring and trans-DAW work. If you mean clocks, then analog in home, and digital on devices.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Guaranteed lyrical satisfaction, great consistent communication, and budget-friendly work.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I've learned a lot about the retail fashion industry working where I am. This will help me with future endeavors that will soon take flight.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: "do you produce": my answer is yes, but production is not my strong suit. It takes me much longer to produce than a professional producer, so I'd rather they be contacted for that specific work.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Music is just a hobby that fills up empty space. Music is a tool that every single industry utilizes.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Does this project have a purpose? Is it a passion project? Who is funding the outsourcing portion. What do you expect from me in this position.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Don't be afraid of the budget if you don't have one. Just send the request and we will definitely work it out together!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: That's a really good question.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Songwriting since 2018

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Passionate and result-driven

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Missy Elliot! She recently was inducted into the hall of fame, she played an essential role in the development of artist-ship, she choreographs, produces, writes, and performs like a BEAST. I love her overall because without her contributions we wouldn't have many of the live performance styles we have today.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Know your equipment so that the results of using your hardware/software doesn't result in accidental poor quality work.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Spontaneous, Rap/HipHop, R&B, Holiday, Mixtape/Album

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Emotional channeling and releasing through music, often portrayed as freestyled vocals.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Emotional translations through clever lyricism and musical exclamation.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I currently record on a simple Lynx Pro microphone, but I took the internal pop filter out and placed it on the outside of the mic. My speakers are small bookshelf Eris 3.5s from Presonus, and I am proficient in Studio One Artist 5.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: Missy Elliot, Ferocious Productions, Dox Anatomy

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Visionary drafting. Often, people come to me when they need to further develop the concepts they've come up with. Otherwise, I write feature verses and perform them as a recording artist.
