Patricia Osborn on SoundBetter

Hi! I'm Patricia O. I've been singing since birth, literally my mom says I'd wiggle out of her arms and sing my own lullabies as a baby! LOL Been recording in studios going on 25 years doing backgrounds for various artists in the greater Los Angeles area. I've been writing songs for over 15 years!

I bring hope, healing, and relief through my vocal deliveries. Whether it's a well-crafted counter line, a supporting background vocal, or an emphasized adlib, you can expect to come away feeling better having heard it. Because I grew up singing mostly acapella in churches and various choirs and praise teams, I've been inevitably geared to providing the best emotive vocal with the goal of leaving the listener uplifted. As a singer/songwriter I am a natural soloist, but with 25 years of providing session work for various artists, I am great at adjusting my voice and tones to best suit each artist I back so that their voice shines backed by a stellar pad of supporting harmonies.

I've also been writing songs for over 15 years! I can write you a worship song for your church, a gospel song for your album, or an R&B song with substance for your soul.

Whether it's great vocals or a moving song you need written I can provide what you need.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Interview with Patricia Osborn

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I am currently working on my first independent solo gospel album. I have written, arranged, and co-produced every track on the album.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I can promise my clients that I will provide clear communication every step of the way. I can promise my clients top quality vocals that bring hope and uplift.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I get to do what I was put on this earth to do and provide hope and uplifting in the process. I get to collaborate and create with people from around the world here on SoundBetter and that is very fulfilling to know that a girl from West Covina, California will be heard now clear across the globe in other countries.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I began recording in studios at the age of 14 and have been doing session work for 25 years. I have been writing songs for over 23 years.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: Jill Scott because I think we would have a great time in the studio creating. Mali Music because his first album was my favorite gospel album of all times. Jason Mraz because I think he would elevate my word play (pun intended, if you know you know). Timbaland because, it is doggone Timbaland! And I would love to work with many orchestral composers as a lot of the music I write I hear orchestral music for. I would also love to work with Quentin Tarantino I would love to see how he could incorporate one of my cinematic gospel songs into one of his films without diminishing the song or the film.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I like to focus on wholesome music with substance which for me can span an array of genres. I have a passion for cinematic music.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: My strongest skill is vocal arrangement. I can hear a song and automatically hear where I can create either a beautiful bed of background harmonies, adlib, or a counter line to accentuate the feel of the track.

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: I bring a voice that provides hope and uplifting. I grew up singing acapella the majority of the time so my commitment to the quality of the vocals I deliver are critical. I also bring a unique take on vocal arrangements because I do not play any instruments, so often times my friends who are musicians are amazed when they hear the harmonies and arrangements I write and provide.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: From a communication standpoint I like to get all the details up front of what the client is looking for. Then I like to listen to whatever track they send me and get a feel for the overall vibe of the song. Then I dive in and bring my top-quality vocals and creativity on any vocal arrangement I may be providing to my client. I will typically let them know in advance when they can expect to receive the first update from me, so they have a realistic expectation. As I provide updates, I encourage them to give any feedback or critiques they may have to ensure I am delivering what they had in mind.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: I am a singer songwriter, but I do not play any instruments, so musicians that play my favorite instruments inspire me. Classical guitarists, strings, and orchestra composers are very inspiring.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: So far, I mostly provide top quality background vocals to my clients. However, I love providing vocal arrangements as well since that is where I not only excel but have the most excitement in the creative process.
