Theofania is a very talented lyricist and a beautiful singer. I’ve had the opportunity to work with her on several songs for animated series shown on Disney +, Netflix, and PBS. She is a dedicated professional and always meets her deadlines.
I have worked with Theofania Pavli on multiple projects including the theme song of Ninjago: Dragons Rising for LEGO and Netflix. She is the most professional hardworking and passionate singer I have ever had the pleasure to work with in my 11 years in this industry.
Interview with Theofania Pavli
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One of the projects that I am really proud and excited to have been apart of is the new Ninjago: Dragons Rising theme I sang on and co-wrote for LEGO and Netflix.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently I am working on a project for Disney.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise would be that any project I work on will get the best of me day and night.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that I can express stories and emotions through music, everyone has something they wish to share but don't always have the right words for it, this for me is where music helps get the point across in the most beautiful way.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always start by asking what genre of music they are going for, and also how would they want the style of the vocals/lyrics to be.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would advise that they should make sure that the sound of the voice suits their idea first before hiring anyone, as well as getting to know more about the person's previous work experience and projects.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: That would be a survival knife, a water purification system, a fishing kit, a lighter set, and a first aid kit.... I mean my Laptop, my UAD Apollo, my Shure SM7B and a notepad.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path began when I walked on stage as a young child. From there I was hooked... I started writing music everyday writing lyrics in my journal. I wrote some early songs with a friend and just never stopped. Determination is what got me to where I am today.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say musically I am a chameleon. I can fit myself into whatever style you throw at me and I relish the challenge.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to get the opportunity to work with NF and Ariana Grande. NF because I love his style of music and the way he expresses himself. I always found beauty in that complex mind of his and the way his journey is written as a journal through his lyrics. Ariana Grande because her melody ideas inspire my everyday work. Vocally in the Pop world she is unmatched and her talent with harmonies are out of this world.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: One thing I would share on music related is to never try and rush on something, always make sure that what you put out is 100 percent, do it right or don't do it at all.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I would say I sing and write well on a number of different genres but most recently I have been working on Pop, EDM and RNB.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would be finding the moments in a song that need to be elevated and the parts that need to remain smaller. I believe that arrangement is one of the most important aspects of making a song a hit.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have been a top liner for various big budget projects and have been lucky enough to gain the experience to grab the listeners attention from the first note. I would say I have a very unique voice, from a soft whisper to a powerful soaring chorus I can create something that stands out, is elevated and gets the recognition it deserves.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process would be to listen to the track and understand the feel of it as well as figure out on what can I do vocally or lyrically to elevate it. My client would let me know the details about their overall vision for the song and what they're aiming for. Once I have these details I would begin my writing process and circle back to the clients notes to make sure I am absolutely nailing their vision.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Currently I am recording with a UAD Apollo and a Shure SM7B.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: NF, Ariana Grande, Aaron Hibell, Teddy Swims, Hozier, Lana Del Rey and many more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most common type of work would be anywhere from singing lead vocals, vocal arrangement all the way to writing full songs for people.
