Richard Moore

Ondist for Hire / Programmer

Richard Moore on SoundBetter

I specialise in the ondes Martenot and MaxMSP programming software by Cycling '74. The ondes Martenot is the most expressive and dynamic electronic instrument that uses pure waveforms, an idiosyncratic ribbon controller, and an extremely sensitive touche d'íntensité to produce an etheric voice akin to the Theremin.

Hey, I'm a contemporary classical/electronic composer and performer whose main instrument is the ondes Martenot. Bringing the Martenot to larger audiences across the world, like Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) and Cynthia Miller have, is one of my biggest dreams. I also am an experienced pianist, bassist, and guitarist across modern jazz and alternative rock genres.

Much of my current work has been about bringing distinct internal characters of myself into light through a sonic medium. The ondes Martenot has been the chief expression of my own inner voice and has continued to inspire me ever since I found out about it.

I'm here to offer session recording work with the ondes Martenot for nearly any creative project--from classical to avant-garde to pop--as well as to offer my complete services as a composer for film-related, video game, or arrangement projects.

All of my previous releases can be found on my Bandcamp page (www.risherd-ondes.bandcamp.com), and my most recent performance was with Opera Theatre Oregon on the project Dream Within A Dream (Episode 3). In DWAD, I play the ondes Martenot as accompaniment to mezzo-soprano Camille Sherman (www.camillesherman.com) on a score by Justin Ralls (www.justinralls.com).
