Taylor’s vocal delivery is spot on with great pitch, tone and expression and elevates the song to the next level. What also resonates are her many years of experience, particularly when she crafts just the right amount of accompanying vocals to the lead and in the right places, slotting in well with the ongoing production process. 5 stars!

Taylor is a very special talent....She did an amazing job with lead and BGV's on a song of mine some months ago, and this time she wrote the topline and BGV's to another track and I couldn't be happier with the result... I plan to tap into this incredible talent as often as possible. Taylor's The Best !!!
Interview with Taylor Marshall
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I put out a record last year of all original music. I catered to the exact sound and style that I wanted yet it still sounds very commercial.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm a songwriter and artist in Nashville so I write a lot as well as sing a lot of demo's for other writers.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I've worked a lot with Austin Moorhead. He is a producer, mixer, and plays almost every instrument under the sun. He works hard and efficiently. He cares about the product he is delivering and always puts the clients needs first. His work is always high quality.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. Better work flow!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Your song will sound like it was recorded by a pro. I'll do so much more than sing the right notes. I'll provide a mood, emotion, dynamics and a story. It won't be just a track, it'll be a SONG.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Life is full of a lot of very complicated emotions and moods. It can be really difficult to articulate exactly what we are feeling a lot of the time but when you sing, your soul is speaking for itself. Its an incredible platform to emote from.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's easy to bring emotion and story to a song. It takes years of singing and exploring the deepest corners of your voice and the art of actually singing into a microphone for recording.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask them to provide track names of examples they want the track to sound like. I also ask them what kind mood they want for the track and if they want any harmonies on it as well.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to their tracks available and really make sure to communicate exactly what it is you are looking for when you contact them initially. There is no such thing as too much information. Be clear and provide examples! Also, read their interview questions to fully understand what they are able to provide.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: J-45, Grand Piano, Sennheiser Handheld Mic, Apogee Duet, My voice!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My mom always says that I've been singing since before I could talk. I have been singing and being trained ever since. I went to theater school for college and am classically trained as well. I now work as a country/rock artist in Nashville under a different name as well as a professional demo singer.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say I most closely resemble voices like Carrie Underwood, Grace Potter, Kelly Clarkson in most work I do but also resemble a Sara Bareilles type on more indie tracks.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Steven Tyler. ROCKSTAR.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A high-quality interface is key!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on all types of music really. I've been working on a lot of country, rock and indie tracks lately but can really do anything you need me to.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is commercial vocals. I can make your song sound like it belongs on the radio. I want your track to have the high quality vocals that a major label artist would be able to deliver. I grew up imitating different voices so I am able to mimic a bunch of different vocal styles depending on what you'd like your song to sound like.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I do so much more than sing the right notes. We listen to music to feel something so the song needs to be able to do its job and MAKE you feel something. A lot of that comes from the vocals. It's easy for a singer to sing the right notes but I makes sure there is a story. I bring it to life with dynamics, emotion and power.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I listen to the track a few times to really get a feel of what it is I need to bring to it. Then I do however many vocal takes I need to make the song top notch. You have to make sure you are serving lyric and every corner of the song from top to bottom.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a lot to offer vocally. I have very solid technique. I can belt on a song like a powerhouse diva but can also deliver a really soft and gentle vocal that draws a listener in. Most importantly, I bring emotion and conviction to the lyrics so that a listener hears a story and can relate to the song.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a huge fan of Grace Potter and Sheryl Crow. Grace is a total force to be reckoned with. There is emotion and weight in every lyric she sings. Sheryl is the epitome of a rockstar. She knows how to command a song and make it completely her own.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do a lot of lead vocals on tracks. From Pop to Country to Rock, I do it all! I'm well versed in many genres and specialize in belting but can also deliver any dynamic and mood you are looking for. I also do a lot of harmonies on a lot of those tracks and can come up with the parts myself that will serve the track best if someone needs help with that.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I get asked a lot if I can emulate a certain singer. I can certainly give a vocal that is very comparable.
