I have pleased clients in just about every genre, be it as a writer, guitarist, top-liner or engineer. I’ve worked for every kind of human there is- friendly, disgruntled, guarded, etc.- and everyone’s come away happy.
I can help you get your project from seedling to mastering so that you’re free to worry about just what matters to you- creativity.
My childhood was spent in recording studios and music rooms, so every part of the process comes naturally to me.
If you need help finishing a melody, I’ve got you. If you need live instruments to bring humanity into a track, I’ve got you. And if you need a radio-ready mix done on the finest analog equipment, I’ve still got you.
I'm a joy to work with, and I love when you send references, if you know exactly what you're looking for!
Note: I'm in the process of attempting to merge multiple discogs pages and submitting albums that were released but never submitted, it's a messy process. For the time being, there's a fair amount of things that are missing.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Mathew Scheiner
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Most often, I'm cleaning up tracks first— timing, tuning, stuff to make the music feel better— then, I can focus on making it all sound good.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have 2 rooms at The Nightfly. Studio A is mostly for tracking—we have a 24 channel API 2448 console and a 24 track Studer A827 tape machine, a beautiful sounding piano and really good isolation between booths and live room. But the console has automation as well, so that makes it a really fun room for mixing as well. Studio B is purpose-built for overdubs, production and mixing. Tons of synths, a good size vocal booth, and tight acoustics. Both rooms have lots of the same toys to play with—tape echoes, high-end compressors and preamps—which makes switching between rooms throughout a project fun and cohesive.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Recording, editing, tuning, and mixing.
