Interview with Shawn Millie Sr.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Just got through mastering a fun melodic r&b song.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, however, I’ve fully transitioned to digital. The emulations are just too good now. My 1:1 Weiss Collection and 1:1 SPL Machine Head plugins are some of the few common tools that have earned a place in my heart.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I began my career in sound engineering at Full Sail University and as an intern at a studio in Charlotte, NC. I later gained the title of assistant producer-engineer where I also recorded and produced studio vocal performances for various genres. (Insert long military duty break.) Now I'm back to my love for sound working as a mastering engineer and mixing engineer occasionally.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I aim for punch and transparent and expansion if needed. My overall goal is to optimize the source.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Melodic Rap or R&B, Hip-hop, Trap and Pop
