I´ve lived in Asia and Australia where I toured and recorded in the late 90s-early 00´s. Interview with Vol 11 Studio
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I wrote and recorded an original song for an upcoming NFT through a guitar magazine.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working with music and artists, being haunted by a tune or riff all week, till I finally hear in my head where it should go.! .Beats working in some boring office everyday.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do you want the song to sound like, what are your influences, or what do you think the lyrics should be about in the case they want me to help them write.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Turning a rough idea into a full song, complete with a hook, bridge or pre chorus that probably wasn´t there to begin with.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Some musical sense and catchy-ness? Is that word?
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog to record, everytime.Digital to mix, makes life easier.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Shure Beta 58, a Telecaster, any laptop with a good DAW, Sennheiser studio headphones, a NI Komplete audio interface.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out as a drummer in the 90s, then picked up a guitar and stepped up to the mic to become a singer. guitarist who writes her own songs in 1999. Then around 2006 started producing my band´s albums, only to find I love producing music for anyone who´d have me.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Old-school rocker who loves a great guitar and big drums sound
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen to the song before it´s produced, just guitar/piano and one vocal would ensure it´s good !
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock-pop, alternative, grunge, indie and punk.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in a pro recording studio with analog board, topline mics like Neumann, Shure, EV and AKG. Also a state-of-the-art mixing and mastering room with custom analog pre, Eq gear, UAD.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Songwriters like Dave Grohl, Billy Corgan, Trent Reznor, producers like Butch Vig, Sylvia Massy, Steve Evetts
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Writing a new song, or helping finish a rough demo they send me, by turning it into a fully produced song including arrangements, structure and hooks.
