Interview with Alex Duguay
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Writing melodies, writing lyrics, producing complete tracks and recording.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog for recording, digital for mixing. Recording an amazing high quality source is key. Mixing in the box is more convenient.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Hearing a finished product and seeing the clients reaction.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Professional, unique, and open minded.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop/Hip-Hop/EDM
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Thinking outside of the box, yet being conscious of the current industry.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My home studio, which I just opened up to the public for rental and recording, consists of a Neumann u87, Focusrite ISA One, Roland Juno 60, Sequential Circuits Drumtraks, RME HDSP Multiface II and Presonus Eris E66. I also work out of a studio in Montreal with TheHookCo, which has over a dozen vintage analog synths, classic analog gear and mics.
