Hi, my name is Tom Burgess. I'm a 22-year-old freelance musician from the UK, working primarily as composer and session guitarist, with expertise in other areas too (including arranging, transcription, engraving, journalism, academic research, and tutoring). As an award-winning performer, composer, and researcher, my exceptionally holistic appreciation of music is sure to provide a well-rounded approach to any project I work on.

As a composer, I have written and recorded for world-leading new music ensembles, Billboard 'Emerging Artists', and eminent UK jazz musicians and award-winning big bands. I recently completed my MA Music in Durham University (ranked the No. 1 Music Department in all 3 major uni league tables in 2021), where I attained the highest marks of my cohort on the compositional pathway.

As a session musician, I have played for countless bands at a professional level, with genres encompassing: jazz, rock, soul/R&B, blues, folk, classical, metal, disco, experimental, and many more. Primarily a guitarist, I pride myself on simultaneously being stylistically versatile and precise.

You may also make the most of my eclectic interests. For instance, I have researched an array of contemporary music, microtonal music, world musics, popular musics, and much of the Western canon (medieval to modern-day). Do not hesitate to ask more about my abilities and services.
