Interview with 0rion Studios
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Probably St. Vincent simply because she is so creative with her songwriting and the textures she uses in her music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always be referencing
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on everything but I find right now I am currently working with a lot of rock bands.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: With my knowledge and experience, I believe my strongest skill is my ability to listen to an artist and give them what they want.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I believe that I bring a lot of experience and taste, so I can communicate effectively with an artist to be able to bring out their vision.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually work out of multiple sessions for a song, I'll have my tracking session, my editing session and my mixing session, I spend a lot of time in the tracking and editing process to make tracks as good as they can be, before I start mixing. When I mix I love a lot of parallel processing and mixing and matching distortion and saturation to come up with a mix.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Currently, I am working out of two places, home where I just have a basic ITB pro tools setup, full array of professional plugins, and decent monitoring. I also work out of a large studio, with 2 consoles, and an incredible amount of microphones and outboard gear.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: So I am inspired a lot by producers and engineers like John Congleton, Andy Wallace, Sylvia Massy, and Michael Brauer, people who are just incredibly creative and unique with their styles. As far as musicians go, Steve Vai, Greg Philiganis, Bruno Mars, Corey Henry, Jacob Collier, Joe Dart.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Currently, I do mostly mixing, or audio restoration
