Micky Miller

Saxophonist, Producer

Micky Miller on SoundBetter

Hi! I'm a session musician and a producer! I play the saxophonist and I produce house music. I just graduated from the Royal College of Music in London. I'm coming from a classical background but I've been always in love with electronic music and I'm currently playing in London and abroad as a saxophonist/DJ.

Hi, I’m Micky Miller, a saxophonist and music producer based in London. I recently graduated from the prestigious Royal College of Music, where I honed my craft and developed a deep appreciation for a wide range of musical styles. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with many composers and producers, working on projects that span classical, jazz, and electronic music.
As a musician, I bring a unique blend of artistry and versatility to every performance and production. Whether I’m performing soulful saxophone solos, orchestrating lush arrangements, or crafting cutting-edge electronic tracks, my goal is always to connect with audiences and create music that resonates deeply.
As a producer, I strive to link my huge passion for improvisation and music production, a passion, and now a job, that I managed to cultivate through the Mat Academy and later at the Royal College of Music under the guidance of Kate Simko.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Passion and professionalism

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: As a saxophonist, If I need to record a solo I feel is essential to listen for some references and trying to sing some ideas over the track I need to record. After that I feel I'm ready to go while the principle for a mixing or mastering project is quite similar. References are really important to get the right balance.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: MacBook Pro 14, Ableton Live, Yamaha HS8, Focusrite 2i2, AKG c214, Shure SM57 but for professional recording I go to studios.

  12. A: I'm working on two Tech House EPs and Vocal EP for next year

  13. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  14. A: Tom Frampton and Rob late.

  15. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  16. A: Anything, if it sounds good, sounds good

  18. A: Be anywhere with a laptop and just be creative. The possibility to do what you love wherever you are is priceless.

  19. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  20. A: limits of the instruments

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: My advice would be to be as clear as possible about your vision and expectations from the start. The more detailed and specific you are, the smoother and more efficient the process will be, saving time for both of us. Whether it’s the sound, mood, or style you’re looking for, sharing references or examples can be incredibly helpful.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: My laptop, microphone, saxophone, audio interface and headphones

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I studied music and saxophone for 13 years, and in the process of learning I fell in love with electronic music. I always had a dream of writing music, but I started to discover music production later in years. When I was 16/17 years old, I started to figure out how to use Ableton, and when I moved to London to study, I further explored the subject.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: I create dance music, but I don’t limit myself to a specific genre because I find it restricting. Music is emotion, and it should flow naturally. We create based on what we feel in the moment. Listening to music is essential—it’s how we learn and evolve. It shapes our "current taste" and allows us to express ourselves differently each time.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: Fred again. I think he is probably one of the most inspiring people we can have around us right now. I feel he's very emotional about music, which is probably one of the most important things, it's one of those things that tells people who we are.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: I feel I'm very expressive, I really care about quality and phrasing. I'm quite a perfectionist and I am very determined.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: Fred Again, Roblate, Martin Garrix, James Hype, Coldplay, Jacob Collier, Mark Ronson, Dexter Gordon, Scott Hamilton

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: Coming from the Royal College of Music, I’ve had the pleasure of working across a variety of fields, including classical music and jazz. In the electronic music world, I initially focused on recording for my own projects, but recently, playing in a rock band broadened my perspective. This experience inspired me to start recording not just for myself but also for others. Collaborating with different artists has expanded my creativity and allowed me to approach music with fresh inspiration and ideas.
