Let me help you elevate your song to a professional level that competes with your musical peers. Your songs will remind listeners of a feeling, person, place, or time in their life and I want to help you achieve that goal.
Mixing Engineer who would love to gain your trust and business. All mixes include a mastered copy. In addition, I also including vocal tuning, which will still retain that human and personal performance we all associate with the singers we love.
I grew up with a variety of musical styles. I listen critically to mixes to ensure I am giving you the version you imagined when your song was first conceived. I love the big driving foundation of a drum groove, that keeps your song alive, with the bass filling in the low end in tight unison. The accompanying instruments like the acoustic / electric / piano / organ fill the spaces perfectly in the stereo spectrum. The vocals in my mixes are up front and clear while ensuring the story and emotions are transparent. I am not afraid to try new things and will work with you in regards to your creative vision.
My past experience has been writing, producing, recording, mixing, & mastering my own songs under the name “Be Ready To Listen”. Over the last year I have been honing my skills and workflow through the practice of mixing other artists music. I am ready to impress you.
I look forward to working with you.

Interview with Mixed By Will Hillier
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am always working on my own songs, some of which I started when I was a teenage whereas some are new creations. I have released 4 songs under the name “Be Ready To Listen” and plan to issue more in the near future. I also constantly work on practicing my skills by working on mixes through my membership with Produce Like A Pro and other courses I have taken. As I reach the end of my non musical professional career, that I have been working at for the last 25 plus years, I am looking forward to my next career in mixing the next greatest song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I would say the important questions are why did you write this song, what does it mean to you, who do you think your target audience is, and what is the feeling / emotion you hope this song imparts on the listeners? It is important to make sure the vision of the artist’s performance translates through the mix. Part of my offering is to have a Zoom meeting with the Band / Artist / Producer to discuss these items to ensure there is effective communication of the artists vision and get connected as humans.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Music has been an important part of my life. I have always listened critically to music since my early years, often hearing things that others would not have noticed. When I was a teenager, I stayed out of trouble by being a guitar player in a band. After high school, I followed a non musical path in Mechanical Engineering, which I have been working at for the past 25 plus years. Music was always my passion, and I always had a handful of songs that I had written over the years. With improvements to home recording and mixing software, I got passionate about 4 years ago in publishing those songs. Learning over the years how to mix and master my own music, I started to practice working on other peoples songs through courses such as Recording Revolution. I am a member of Produce Like A Pro which has a large catalogue of songs for members to mix as well as an excellent community of mixers who give support and comments to other members mixes. I have mixed several songs now and am ready to work professionally.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I love working on new songs. I look for ways to help the vocals remain up front, ensuring there’s a foundation of drums & bass, with the remaining instruments placed strategically in the stereo field. I ask myself, how can I make each track have its own space in the mix or enhance other sounds and feelings? What do I want as the focus and what should support that focus at any given moment in the song? I am a strong believer of maintaining the dynamics of the performance by staying away from overly compressing the song which can make it sound flat and unexciting. I like to initially mix fast so as to stay fresh and objective. Following the initial draft mix I like to take a break from the song and then spend time listening in different environments to ensure that the mix will translate well on all listening systems. As I do that, I tweak the mix so as to provide a first issue that reinforces that you made the right decision choosing me.
