Bassclefmusic on SoundBetter

I'm Alan and I can create & record a great bass line for your track from my studio in Bonnie Scotland! My prices are low but my quality is high. I operate a quick turnaround and will work closely with you to ensure you get exactly what you are looking for. I have great feel and will play whatever it takes to make your track sound fantastic.

I have been playing bass longer than I care to remember attaining a Distinction both in Bass Performance and Musical Theory at Grade 8. I can create and produce a great bass line for your track, jingle, or song. I have played most styles / genres at some stage in my career. Indeed it was the versatility and power of the bass that initially drew me towards it.

You can send me the notes or tab if you want something specific or a chord chart and description of what exactly you are looking for. If you don't know the chords, I can work them out for you. I will create and record a groovy, sympathetic bass line for you and send the Wav/AIFF files to you (both D.I and Amp).

I have several basses ( Rickenbacker, Fender, Musicman, ESP LTD )
including a five-string and fretless and use Ampeg / T.C Electronics amps. Should you want any effects on your track, I think I have pretty much everything covered! I record using a Focusrite interface and Ableton software.
I am a perfectionist when it comes to playing and I want you to be entirely satisfied with your track so I am happy to revise or amend my bass line until you are entirely happy with it (within reason!).

I have a great work ethic and am easy to get on with. My goal is to present you with something that you are 100% happy with and provide a fantastic service. I look forward to hearing from you.

Interview with Bassclefmusic

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: Very simple. If we cant work together to produce something that you are 100% satisfied with...then I don't expect to be paid!

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: What type of sound and feel are you looking for? What type of tone? How busy would you like the bass line to be? Will other instruments or vocals be added to the guide track at a later stage?

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: I have played most genres at some stage in my career. It is the sheer variety of music that I get hired to play on that makes the job so enjoyable.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: Firstly I endeavour to find out exactly what the client is looking for. Some clients have a firm idea of what they are looking for and others are happy to trust me to come up with something that will add to the track and make it shine. After coming up with an idea ( or several ideas ), I record them and send a mix to the client for their opinion. I will make amendments if necessary and send another mix. When the client is 100% happy with my bass line, I will re-record the line and send 2 files to them (DI & AMP) in Wav/AIFF format. Simple!

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I have 4 basses which include a 5 String and a Fretless. I currently use AMPEG and TC ELECTRONICS amps I run the signals into a FOCUSRITE audio interface and then into ABLETON LIVE. Effects are taken care of by LINE 6 / BOSS processors and a multitude of various VST plug-ins. I always provide a DI bass track and a miked-up track that you can blend and process in whichever way you wish.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: The more specific you are, the easier it is to produce a piece of work that you are satisfied with. Communication is really important. Having said that, a lot of clients are happy leave it up to me to use my skill and experience to create something that will add to the song and make it stand out.
