Skilled producer/songwriter/percussionist who has written songs for artists like Ed Sheeran and Leon Bridges. I spent 8 years as a composer and lyricist at Sesame Street and toured the country in a young rock group (McLovins). My work has been reviewed in Rolling Stone, Us Magazine and Paste. I go above and beyond to achieve detailed perfection.
I am a Berklee certified music producer who specializes in working with new artists who are trying to find their sound. A lot of attention goes to understanding the artist’s vision, their story, which will guide us towards defining the artist’s identity.
I’m a full circle producer — I compose, produce, arrange and can play everything on the track. I also have a catalogue of incredibly talented session musicians if the project calls for it. I will always get the right musician for the sound. Songs should never be clouded with fluff; I strive to enhance the honesty of each idea and the integrity of its art.
My style of songwriting is interview based — I believe a great song comes from a great conversation. I’m not interested in writing songs about nothing. I want to hear something that’s hard to say. Something honest that comes from your unique story. I believe there is strength and vulnerability and that’s what makes music I’d want to listen to.
I am based out of my home studio, however if the track needs it, I have access to world class studios with beautiful rooms. I love to utilize these spaces, especially for that “larger than life” drum sound. I work mainly between Ableton Live and Pro Tools and am fluent in Melodyne and all iZotope software.
I want my artists to leave feeling we brought the song in their head to life.

Endorse Jake HuffmanI've been working creatively with Jake for a few years and it's always been such a positive and amazing experience. Jake is an incredibly talented songwriter, performer, producer and mixing engineer. His expertise of all areas of music is one of a kind. More importantly he always makes you feel comfortable and at home at his studio. I highly recommend working with him for any and all projects!
Recorded drum tracks for a metal project with Jake. Got great sounds and sent the stems over immediately. Good dude, good hangs, a cool cat with cool cats.
Jake has recorded, engineered, mixed and mastered most of my releases and he never fails to capture the sound I’m going for. Super talented man and all around good guy to record/hang with. Have him produce your music and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Interview with Jake Huffman
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to obsess over you project to create something beyond your expectations.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Rhythm is my leading spice. I want people to feel something when they hear the music. It’s important that I look objectively at what the focus of each song is. The message and emotion are everything, so I’m not trying to cover up what the listeners are supposed to hear. I want to enhance it.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: In the music industry, I really believe anything is possible, especially with art. This is why I like working with new artists who are still trying to discover their sound; I want to be a part of the journey. Honestly, I feel like "the best song" hasn't been written yet.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Primarily I do full top to bottom productions — starting from nothing and building everything. Sometimes my clients will come in with just an idea of what they want the song to be about and we go from there. These are my favorite kind of projects and the reason I became a producer.
