I work with indie singer/songwriters as a session guitarist and pianist. In addition, I've been hired to compose and arrange strings and vocal harmonies for songs.
I've worked with many singers and songwriters as a session musician - mostly guitar, piano, and bass - as well as a session composer and arranger.
My background is classical guitar, but my first instrument is piano. I learned to play the piano and guitar by ear as a kid, listening to Beatles records and the radio.
As a young teen, I got into classical guitar when my dad went to Brazil on business and brought back a CD of Villa-Lobos pieces. I learned to play portions of those pieces by ear before I knew how to read music. I ended up studying classical guitar performance in college. As a session guitarist, I'll play in a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, and James Taylor-esque fingerstyle acoustic.
My orchestral string arrangements and backing vocal/choral arrangements are influenced by Brian Wilson, Eric Whitacre, and traditional hymns. I'll often infuse a bit of jazz harmonies to add color. Sometimes the arrangements I write are "cinematic" and evocative. Other times, they're more subdued, yet still emotive.
If you're looking for string and/or vocal arrangements, I can provide sheet music. Otherwise, I can send you what I recorded with the VST I use.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.
