Writing raw, authentic, and heart-felt music in EDM/pop was what got signed singer-songwriter, Nellie Mar a publishing deal at Ultra Publishing. Her recent Noah Davis cuts “Suga Daddy” & "Playground" garnered 3M+ streams on Spotify and charted at #36 on iTunes. Her notable co-writes include major label artists Alexander 23, Kiesza & Leyla Blue.
I write quality songs (melody/lyrics) and record my own demos with a top notch high quality microphone. I have several years experience of recording my own vocals to my own songs or tracks from producers. I provide my own vocal mixes, vocal tuning, arrangement and editing as well.

Interview with Nellie Mar
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am super proud of being apart of Noah Davis's latest album, "Fuck Flowers". I co-wrote the songs “Suga Daddy” & "Playground" that garnered 2M+ streams on Spotify and charted at #36 on iTunes and hit #4 on the iTunes albums chart. I also have several songs on hold with artists looking to release coming this year. Stay tuned!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I am recording a bunch of toplines for major label artists, working on my own recorded music, doing tons of co-writing sessions, and doing Kygo's monthly course to get better at my production skills.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! My friend and amazing songwriter Lauren Ioffrida, producer Tommy Krazert, and COASTR. music does amazing remixes!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, it's all I know!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To deliver the best top notch quality work I can provide.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The electric moments of getting amazing lightning bolt ideas, and then melodies and lyrics seamlessly come together.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They ask, "How fast can you write a song." I say it totally varies but I can usually be done within a few hours tops.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That being a songwriter is glamorous. It's a job that requires dedication and effort just like any other!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your goal with the music you are looking to receive?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Do research on who you want to hire. Listen to as many samples of their music as possible to make sure its the best fit for what you're looking for.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Microphone. Guitar. MIDI keyboard. Piano. Headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career path is a songwriter. I have been doing this full-time for two years now.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My aim is to write the best lyrics/melodies that you would hear on Top 40 Radio. My style is mainstream, emotional, euphoric, powerful, anthemic.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Ryan Tedder because I think his melodies and lyrics are genius and always make me feel uplifted.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Consistency.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop/EDM/Dance.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is melody.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring catchy melodic hooks, strong and clever lyrics, and a unique perspective to stand out.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It always varies. It sometimes starts with my publisher sending me tracks to topline to, or working on a song concept and creating the song on guitar or piano and then to a track in Logic.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a sound treated room that I work out of in my home equipped with my microphone, mic stand, piano keyboard, MIDI keyboard and guitar.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: From a young age my biggest influences have been Colbie Caillat, Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift, Sia, and Julia Michaels.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My work ranges from the creative to the technical. I song write, record vocals, layout production, and play guitar & piano.
