Hi, I'm Thomas Lemmer — an award-winning music producer and certified mastering engineer with over 15 years of experience. I’ve released 18 solo albums, collaborated with acclaimed artists like Oine and Andreas Bach, and earned over 45 million Spotify streams for my own music. My work spans ambient, chillout, downtempo, lo-fi, neo-classical, deep house, and beyond.
My mastering philosophy is simple: preserve the soul of the music while refining its sound to shine on every platform. Artists work with me not just for technical precision, but because I understand how music feels. I know how to balance warmth and clarity, subtlety and impact — always serving the emotion behind the track.
I hold a professional certificate in mastering engineering from HOFA-College and have been featured on NDR (Germany’s official TV broadcaster), Dolby Germany’s podcast, BEAT Magazine, 15 Questions, and Bonedo. I offer full recall sessions and clear communication, making revisions smooth and mastering stress-free.
Let’s make your music sound the way it was always meant to be heard.

Interview with Thomas Lemmer
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I want to work with artists who seek professional results and have a clear artistic vision for their project — regardless of fame or genre. That shared commitment to quality and emotion is what drives great results.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The album AMBITRONIC — I composed, produced, and mixed it. It stayed in the German Chillout Charts for 36 weeks and truly reflects my vision as both an artist and engineer.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Finalizing the mastering for several ambient and cinematic releases, and preparing new solo material.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not at the moment, but I’m always open to collaboration and connecting with great professionals here.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital — today’s high-end plugins accurately replicate analog gear with full recall, flexibility, and no compromise in sound.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will treat your music with the same care and attention I give my own — no shortcuts, just honest, high-quality mastering.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping music reach its full emotional and sonic potential — and seeing how much it means to the artist.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: Can I get revisions if I need changes? A: Absolutely — I offer 3 revisions to ensure you're 100% happy with the result.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That mastering is just making tracks louder. It's actually about balance, translation, and emotion.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your artistic goal? What platforms are you releasing on? Do you have reference tracks?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to their previous work, read reviews, and make sure their taste and values match your vision — communication is key.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Mac Studio, Genelec monitors, MOTU interface, Steinberg Wavelab, and FabFilter bundle.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been producing and mastering music professionally for over 15 years. I started as an electronic artist and evolved into mastering through passion and deep technical training.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Detailed, musical, spacious, and emotionally connected. I favor subtlety and precision over loudness.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more. A well-placed subtle change often has more impact than major processing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Ambient, chillout, downtempo, lo-fi, deep house, and neo-classical — though I master across all genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Translating emotion into sonic detail — making music feel powerful without overprocessing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Clarity, warmth, balance, and emotional depth. I focus on helping the music connect — technically perfect but never sterile.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by listening deeply to understand the artist’s intent, then apply careful EQ, dynamics, and subtle enhancements to bring the track to life — always leaving room for emotion and space.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: A professionally treated room with Genelec monitoring (GLM-calibrated), MOTU interface, Mac Studio M1 Ultra, and Steinberg Wavelab. My plugin chain includes top-tier mastering tools like Weiss, SPL, SSL, and Softube.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, and Tycho — artists who blend emotion, space, and sonic depth with precision.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mastering full albums, EPs, and singles — often following up on mix feedback or handling the mix as well, especially for ambient, downtempo, and lo-fi genres.
