Interview with Felix Mandorff

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Explain how you want your track to sound as good as you can and have some reference tracks as well for the provider

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: That would be a computer, monitors, keyboard, headphones and a guitar.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I have ben producing and mixing music for about five years and have been improving my skills to a professional level.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: Its difficult to answer as a mixing and mastering engineer because it depends on what style the song is gonna be. But I like good reverb in mixies that makes the track feel big so that is kinda my style.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: I would like to work with Rihanna because of her amazing vocal skill or Jack Harlow, sick rapper.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Leave space for all elements in your mix and bring up the best of them.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: I usually work on rap music like hip hop or trap but I have mixed a lot of pop and R&B.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: My strongest skill might be mixing reverb and vocals.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I bring excitement and quality to a song with rich mix

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: My workflow with acoustic recorded music like a band would be to structure, level, remove bleed and unwanted noise, fix time and pitch issues etc and then start make mixing decisions to achieve the desired outcome. My process for mixing then is all about making sure the track sounds as clean, rich and radio ready as I can make it.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: I mix in Logic Pro X and have a range of amazing plugins for a clear rich mix. I mix in professional studios I have access to via my uni.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: People that has inspired me to work with music would be artists like Jon Bellion, Russ and Eminem.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: The usual type of work I do at the moment is mixing beats and vocals for my clients. I produce beats for sell or license.
