Indie folk music is about intimacy, emotion, warmth, and vibe. I prioritize those characteristics in my mixes. I am an artist myself, so I very much understand what it's like looking for someone to take care of your song. My own entirely self-produced and mixed musical project has garnered over 500,000 streams across all platforms.

My name is Vincent. I am an Indie-Folk Singer-Songwriter as well as producer and mixing engineer. Since I'm an artist first and engineer second, I understand many of the issues and struggles that come with working with someone on your song, especially remotely. Because of that, I always focus on delivering the most industry standard mixes that feel good to the creator's ears. My mixes are always warm, full, and dynamic with plenty of analog character while still sounding crisp and competitive with some of the top indie folk songs being put out today. Some of my inspirations include:

Bon Iver
Novo Amor
Haux
Ry X
Luca Fogale
Lizzy McAlpine

How it'll work is you send me a voice memo or demo of you're working on as well as any notes for anything you want to add or how you want it to be produced. From there, we can go back and forth a bit talking about inspirations, timeline, wants and don't wants, and anything else and then I'll get to work. Every time I make an updated mix, I'll send it to you so you can track my progress, and you can respond with any revision requests until we have a song that you're satisfied with.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Vintz is an excellent artist/musician and was totally clear in his vision for the song that I mixed! We went back and forth a few times as I tried to get closer to the sound he was looking for and he was always helpful and understanding of my role as an audio engineer in his notes. Would highly recommend working with him!!

Interview with Vintz Desert

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I mainly promise to listen to you and the song. I always prioritize your needs and what your ear is telling you. After that, I prioritize what the song is telling me it needs. Both of these will be achieved at the highest of industry standards in order to deliver a professional and living production/mix.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Hearing all types of different music!

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: Lauten Atlantis Mic Soyuz 023 Mic Martin D-15 Pultec EQP SM57

  7. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  8. A: I produced and mixed my upcoming EP "Everyone's Favorite Letdown". This project was both very challenging and also very expressive and it taught me a lot about what I like my workflow to look like. I got to work with award winning Mastering engineer Alexandr Vatagin on this one.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: It doesn't matter. People have made multi-million masterpiece's using basic DAW plugins all ITB. Do whatever is most accessible to you. For me, Analog recording, Digital Mixing, and Analog Mastering works best.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Reach out to the person you want to work with and ask questions/convey your image before making an arrangement with them. Some people get annoyed with people asking questions, but its not about them when you're paying money to capture your vision.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: Been doing this professionally for about 5 years now. Started out as an Indie Folk musician and though I am still doing that, I have transition into a more engineer role.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: Luca Fogale. He is a huge inspiration of mine and is a master at conveying his emotions and laying them all out on the table.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Pick one DAW and stick with it. People say things like "This DAW is better" or "This DAW sounds better than the other". Reality is they all sound the same. What it comes down to is workflow. Find one that works for you and master it regardless of which one it is. Same philosophy can be applied to gear. An engineer who is a master with a $200 microphone, cheap speakers, and free DAW will still deliver perfect industry standard productions and mixes compared to someone with thousands of dollars in gear but no trained ear or experience.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: Acoustic, Indie folk, Folk, Singer-Songwriter, Indie Rock, Country, Ambient, Americana.

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: I bring attention to detail, warmth, and emotion in the songs I work on. Too many times I hear a beautiful song get overly compressed and turned into a something that it's not meant to be. So I will listen to the song, figure out what it wants and needs, and turn it into something that is expansive and enjoyable for the listener.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: I'm a huge fan of Lowswimmer and Novo Amor. Every song of theirs is its own beautiful and emotive landscape. Also a fan of Bon Iver, Lizzy Mcalpine, and Ry X.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: Outside of my own music, I mainly mix for artists. This includes re-amping anything that needs it, analog compression and limiting, vocal aligning and tuning, and effects processing as well.
