Ivan Blomqvist is originally from Sweden but the renowned music conservatory in Trondheim led him across the border to Norway, he graduated in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in jazz piano and currently lives in Oslo.
Ivan has worked with some of Scandinavia's most exciting artists such as Emilie Nicolas, dePresno, Daniel Herskedal, Nils Petter Molvær, Silja Sol, Neon Ion, Nosizwe, Morten Qvenild, Jaa9, Matilda, Gouldian Finch, Isabelle Eberdean, Linda Sundblad and Rohey where he was nominated as ”Newcomer of the year” at the Norwegian Grammy awards.
Working from his studio in the heart of Oslo Ivan is collaboration with artists all around the world. With his extensive gear of analog synths: Dave smith Sequential OB6, Prophet REV2, Moog Subsequent 37, Prophet 12, Yamaha Dx7, Fender Rhodes Mark 1 he can sculpt any desired sound to fit the production he is working on. He has extensive knowledge in chords, analog synths and Ableton live beat making.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I´m producing music for various artists and I´m also working on my own solo album.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Martin Vinje, great guy, producer, and friend of mine! Also Daniel Wold is a great mixing engineer!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being creative everyday and to collaborate with other people!

A: I have been in the music business for over 20 years, starting as a musician, artist and songwriter then moving into production and writing for others.

A: Warm, analog, heartfelt.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The song "Gold Covered Bliss" with the artist Neon Ion which I co-wrote and produced. I just love how the song turned out, it makes really happy when I hear it.

A: That a producer is someone who sits in couch and says "OK guys, let´s do another take shall we" I´ll do anything you ask for from beats, melody, chords, arrangement, I can even aid with lyrics if needed ;)

Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A lot of ideas and creativity, I have years of experience write music both for my own projects and others. I really enjoy the process of making a song from scratch and creating a sound that fits the artist.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to start by creating a synth patch from scratch and jam out some chords. I then program the beat to fit the song and quickly start shaping the sound of the entire mix to get the right vibe.

A: I love Mura Masa, MNDSGN, Anderson Paak, Bon Iver, James Blake

A: I typically produce the entire track for the artist, including writing the chords and programming drums and tweaking the sound to fit their particular style.
