I have been working with Jim for the second time now. I just love his sounds and the way he lets every instrument and vocal track shine in a perfectly balanced mix. Very friendly communication and fast turn around time.
I would definitely like to work with him again in the future! - check_circleVerified
Jim delivered an amazing and powerful mix of my song. He is a pleasure to work with and I have already started the next project with him. Highly recommended!
I’ve been working with Pinky for years. His quality of work is outstanding and the level of detail is unmatched. Overall one of the best guys you’ll meet in audio.
Interview with Jim "Pinky" Beeman
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now, I am working on a live blues album that I recorded live from a festival here in Florida. I will also be mixing it Dolby Atmos
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will walk you through the whole process to make sure your product sounds the way you want it to.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: All the music
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "Can you make it sound like this artist" my answer to that is...depending on how well it was recorded and the sounds you use...YES. Remember, these radio artists spend lots of time and money in the studio to get that recording correct before they mix and master.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure before sending your session/tracks that everything is correct and is fairly well recorded. We are good at what we do but there is a limit of how good we can make it.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started way back in the mid 90's with almost every boy band you could thank of that came through Orlando. I moved to Saint Pete, Florida to start a studio to work on many artist from Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Jon Secada, to 112 and T.I
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more. Stop looking at meters. If it sounds good, then it's correct.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Honestly everything. Most of my clients come because of my rock credits, but I also do a lot of, blues, hip-hop, pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ears of course
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring many years of experience working on multiple award winning projects, and attention to detail.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: After I receive the files/session for mixing, I listen through to make sure there are no issues with the tracks. If there are, I immediately contact the client and go over what I found before I start. I can usual finish the mix (once everything is correct with the session) in about 3 days. I send to the client for their review. For Mastering, I will listen through the whole track to make sure there aren't any phasing, distortion issues. If I can't fixed them, I will advise the client before I start. For 1 track, I can normally have it back to them within 2 days.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My set up is a mixture of analog and digital and I use what's needed depending on the track. My analog chain consists of Manley, Phoenix Thermionic, Summit, Neve, monitoring through Dangerous A/D D/A on Focal and Yamaha NS-10 monitors
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: To be honest, I work on everything that needs a good mix and master. I have the luxury of not having to stay in one style of music. I can mix a rock song in the morning, then master a rap record that evening.
