Interview with blumusic

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I recently made a remix of an Astrid s song that I am very happy with. Check it out and lmk what you think! https://soundcloud.com/blumusic2000/astrid-s-someone-new-blu-remix

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Provide as much info about the track as possible. I also have tendencies of trying out things that are not mainstream and adding it into production that I am working on. So if you have very specific instructions of the way a track is supposed to sound like please lmk!

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: I can pretty music get any sound I want with only my laptop and headphones. I'm huge on the art of limitation, wherein, you are limited by a very small amount of gear and are forced to produce the best music you can with limited software and hardware. The product that comes out is often better than songs you have made with

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: Never went to school for music and don't plan on it. Its a very competitive field in which developing contacts is your most valuable skillset even over production sometimes! I've been producing for 7 years since I was 14.(21 now)

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Anything pop almost! Cutting edge of pop music is where my production lies.

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: I'd love to work with mabel. Just seems cool lol

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: There are so many! One very important tip I have learnt is creating illusion of spacing getting filled without adding an extra element. Many ways to achieve this and it has done wonders ever since I learnt about it! Also the art of limitation. You defo don't need the newest gear to make the best music out there.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: I've mentioned this through the course of the interview but its definitely modern pop. Genre I've loved making since I was 15!

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Modern pop production, I've work almost everyday for the past 2 years developing my skill at pop music and have improved constantly. Also, patience!

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: A sense of completion. It's a great feeling when you work on a song to the point where you feel like you have finally gotten exactly what you've had in mind. That's what I hope to bring to every track I work on

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: I can work both with a vocal or send a melody/chords straight to an artist so they can write. Mainly depends on what the artist is most comfortable with. Sometimes they prefer writing over chords and sometimes they prefer to send stems and have me work on production to add a modern pop vibe to it.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: I run windows and have a pretty powerful msi laptop and I produce and mix in m50x's, I have an ultrawide monitor which is a gamechanger in production. A nektar midi keyboard and all my money goes straight into plugins and i have a lot of them!

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: Ian Kirkpatrick, stint, dj swivel. Way too many to name lol

  27. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  28. A: Mainly production work but I have done some mixing work here and there.
