Interview with Lorenzo Bautista
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I love every project I've worked on, especially under PRIMOS. The process of putting my heart on my sleeve through the lyrics and vocals is always the best experience.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am always working on new PRIMOS music!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise that I will do whatever I can to enhance the project.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: This is my passion!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Music is not just pressing a button.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Go with somebody who can make you stand out.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is reserved emotion. I like to imply feelings, using specifics while allowing anyone to relate. This applies to all styles.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with The Chainsmokers because they were truly one of my first electronic pop influences.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never second guess your gut feeling when adding a new element.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on electronic pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my songwriting ability, but I don't think my other skills fall far behind.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a universal human touch. I like to work from emotion and connect to the project on a deeper level. I try to share the purpose with the listener, and it shows with my work.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to start with the emotion behind a project. What is the vibe? What is the song trying to say? From there, lyrics write the story, vocals tell it, and production sets it up for success.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Studio Monitors placed in a sound-friendly room, guitars, microphone, keyboards, and other equipment all readily available.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lauv and Cheat Codes are huge modern inspirations. However, I have always been inspired by The Rolling Stones, Maroon 5, Tom Petty, and much more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Vocals, production, and songwriting.
