Hey, I'm Spandan Wasnik a music producer & multi-instrumentalist based in Mumbai, India. I specialize in Pop-Music production, although I am a multi-genre producer having worked on genres ranging from Pop, Rock, Lo-fi, Indie all the way to Bollywood music. Achieving the TOP-MOST QUALITY of sound is the main motto for my music career.

Born in Nagpur, India I've always been fascinated and been around Music. I started playing the keyboard at an early age of 4. Then learned guitar and then drums. Although I would say my primary instrument is the Keyboard. I grew a fascination towards music production when I came in contact with a fellow producer in college where I was pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering. Very quickly I adapted to this new way of structuring and arranging my ideas for different instruments into full-fledged songs and I've never looked back since.

I've helped local independent artists make their ideas and demos turn into radio-ready songs that they can be proud of. Nothing fulfils me more than seeing the level of satisfaction I've been able to bring to my clients and collaborators all throughout my career.
I've also been mixing records for my clients and it has been a great experience for me and also for them.

What I am able to bring to the table is GREAT QUALITY music at a very affordable price. I bring in the utmost level of professionalism and focus when working on any piece of music. Artists can expect a very professional, on-time and a high quality experience.

Interview with Spandan Wasnik

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm associated with a band as a member/producer. While also working with other artists.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I personally use digital because of it's convenience. But at the same time I love the character analog gear bring to a track
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I'll provide the Best quality productions and mixes which sound fresh and aren't at all heavy on your bank account.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I am very proud that I get to create something which actually makes people feel a certain way. It's almost like as artists we get to control and manipulate people's emotions even though they don't necessarily always relate to what the song is about. But they definitely will feel the same emotions that we felt while creating that song.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What is the delivery time? My answer to this is simple, some projects take longer because of the detailing that goes into them while some come around fairly quickly. There's nothing as a fixed delivery date. It may take anywhere between 4-5 days to 2 weeks to finish a project.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always start with asking them their vision about he project. How they want it sound and how they specifically don't want it to sound. And also, what is their expected deadline for the project
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, a pair of headphones, 49 keys midi, an interface, a guitar
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started off at the age of 4 when my dad got me a small keyboard to play around with. I played it for a while and then picked up a guitar and now I'm playing both in my productions and live gigs. I still have a long way to go but I'm very proud of the work I'm currently doing.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say my style is mostly Pop but with a hint of Rock or R&B or sometimes it's Acoustic pop.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would be honoured to work with 5 seconds of Summer because I love the melodies in their compositions and the way they arrange their guitars. Also Jeremy Zucker is a no brainer for me because of his fresh sound and willingness to always try something new.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always pursue the "Feel" more than any technicalities. If something you do feels right but somehow isn't the Norm, don't be afraid to create something of your own.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work with artists on songs for singles/albums.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is Melody.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I always start with listening to the demo that has been provided to me very intently because I think that in those first few listens I get a clear idea of how I want the track to sound. Then I'll start putting in elements and layers of instruments to bring the idea to life. There's no specific sequence to how I will do this. Because I feel like every song is different should be approached and treated differently. Sometimes I'll start with laying down the chords over the vocal whereas sometimes the basis of the whole production will be the rhyhm section or the "beat".
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mostly work in the box. I work on a Macbook Pro M1 which runs all my plugins and my DAW. I work in Logic Pro X and Ableton Live. I use plugins from reputed brands such as Fab Filter, Softube, IK muktimedia, Waves, Native Instruments etc. I am also a Multi-instrumentalist so I also have a bunch of instruments such as guitars and keyboard.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am highly inspired by musicians and artists like John Mayer, Jon Bellion, Charlie Puth, Jeremy Zucker, The 1975, 5 Seconds of Summer to name a few.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly help people with producing their demos into full songs. I also provide mixing-mastering services.
