Hi ! I'm Jules, Paris based Drummer, Guitar Player and Producer. I've been a musician for numerous bands throughout my career (Kim Logan & The Silhouettes, Tender Kid, Sly Johnson, Tal Rasha..) and producing various Pop singer/songwriters (Daphne Dro, Enrique Roces..). I range from hard hitting Rock to Funk, Pop, Neo Soul and more. Let's chat ! :)
I've been into music for as long as I can remember, and started playing drums age 10. Three years later I picked up a guitar and started teaching myself, and then quickly got very interested in production shortly after.
After having a diploma in both Drums and Guitar at ATLA School of Music in Paris and a 5 Week Summer Program Diploma at Berklee, I've now been a professional musician for the past 8 years, working on numerous projects whether it's on Drums, Guitar or Production/Mixing. I've been fortunate enough to have collaborated with great artists over the years, with Kim Logan & The Silhouettes' first LP being mixed and mastered at Vance Powell's legendary Sputnik Sound studios, or producing and playing live with French Hip Hop/Soul artist Sly Johnson, or attending a week long mixing seminar at Studios La Fabrique with the legendary Chris Lord-Alge.
While mainly playing and recording Rock, Blues, Pop and Hip Hop/Neo Soul, I'm at ease in numerous styles and will be happy to track acoustic or electric guitars, live acoustic drums, or mix your song.
I will be very reactive to your messages and feedback and will communicate with you as much as possible until you're satisfied with the result.
I'm extremely passionate and pay a lot of attention to detail when I record or mix, and won't settle for anything less than your full satisfaction. Let's make it happen !

Endorse Jules DarmonI've worked with Jules on various projects in different music styles and it's always been a pleasure. He's one of the most invested musician and producer I've met, always staying open minded about ideas, putting ego aside and only working for the music and the result itself. He doesn't feel the need to prove anything and that's something really valuable and let's admit it pretty rare in the industry.
Jules is everything a pop songwriter needs, with his indie, folk, rock and rnb inspirations, he always has what it takes to bring a song to life. His studio is a safe space for creativity, trying, failing, laughing, and recording a LOT of vocals, but he always knows to put the music first. You can trust him to bring his best, everyday, and to always encourage you to be a better musician and push the limits of your vision.
Working with Jules is a truly enriching experience.
Interview with Jules Darmon
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My home studio is a 215 sq. feet basement with tapestry all over the walls, custom-built acoustic drums with Audix DP7 Drum Mic kit as main mics, + SM57 for Snare Top, two Aston Spirit for Overhead and the UAD Sphere DLX as a Room. I also use Zildjian K Cymbals (14 HH/16/18/21). Guitar wise, I own 5 electric guitars : Fender Telecaster Standard, Gibson ES 335, 2 Fender Stratocasters, and a Gibson Les Paul w/ Slash Signature Pickups. I also have a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36 Tube Head with a 1x12 Orange Cab that I mic with an SM57/UAD Sphere. I have a Custom-Made JazzBass that sounds fantastic on any genre, and many, many VSTs and plugins to nail the perfect tone after recording. Everything drum mic goes through my Scarlet OctoPre which is connected in ADAT to my RME BabyFace Pro FS Interface, and I track everything in Logic Pro.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am the live guitar player and musical director of Pop/Rock singer-songwriter Ilo Navahy, I play drums or guitar for Sly Johnson live and have been producing singer songwriters like Daphne Dro, LizaLisa and Enrique Roces. I also create melodic loops with multi-gold French producer 999Biggie, in order to get placements on various Rap/R&B projects.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: As long as it sounds good, it sounds good. I'm happy to adapt to people's views about their music and how it should be recorded/how it should sound, but to be honest digital has so many great advantages convenience wise that I mostly use digital. It all depends on the context at the end of the day, but the ultimate goal will always be the RESULT, no matter how we got there. :)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Easily a Fender Telecaster, a Macbook Pro with Logic and all my plugins in it, a Midi Keyboard, an audio interface, and a really good pair of headphones. That could take me places haha.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm very inspired by the guitar work of Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Slash, John Frusciante, BB King, Angus Young and many others. Drumming wise, John Bonham, Chad Smith, Dave Grohl and Ringo Starr are my absolute heroes and mixing/production wise I'm a huge fan of Chris Lord-Alge, Vance Powell, Sylvia Massy, Jaycen Joshua, Danja and Timbaland.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Drum tracking, guitar tracking, arranging, producing and mixing songs.
