Guitarist for Gwen Stefani, the band America, Avril Lavigne, Vertical Horizon and many more.
I'm a Los Angeles-based session guitarist, songwriter & producer. Some of the artists I've worked with include Gwen Stefani, the band America, Avril Lavigne, Vertical Horizon, Five For Fighting, Don Felder, and Marc Broussard.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, I'm also an experienced guitar instructor and clinician. Another passion of mine is composing music for film and TV, my most recent placement being on Apple TV.
I love collaborating with others and pride myself in putting 100% into every project. I can help produce your music or create pro-quality guitar tracks to support and enhance your songs.
I look forward to working on your next track!

Interview with Steve Fekete
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: In addition to touring with the band America, I'm working on multiple recording projects for other clients, writing songs for my next album, and co-producing a mini-musical.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is to put 100% into your song and to do my best to surpass your expectations.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love collaborating with others and creating something special.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Describe your music. Also, which artists do you admire in terms of music and production?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Choose your best song to work on, keep an open mind as to where it can go, and enjoy the process of creating.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Peter Gabriel. He's an artist who has always remained committed to his vision and his music always moves me.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is being fully committed to anything I'm working on. I take real pride in my work and my attention to detail has served me well. My versatility has enabled me to adapt to most situations.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When I work on a song, I listen to everything. I don't think about what I CAN play, but rather what I SHOULD play. I always try to support the vocal or featured instrument, adding "ear candy" wherever appropriate.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by The Beatles, U2, Lindsey Buckingham, Foo Fighters, Jeff Lynne, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Pink Floyd, The Police, Yes, Ennio Morricone, Led Zeppelin, Neil Finn, Queen, Steely Dan, and many more!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I typically get approached to provide acoustic and/or electric guitar tracks for individual songs or albums. Occasionally I will add other instruments for the client, though that usually gets into producer territory.
