I want to help make your music stand out and be heard
I'm an expert in sound and will produce a high-fidelity product for you. I'm here for all types of artists, whether they're professionals or amateurs looking for new ways to grow their art. I'll commit to your goals, invest wisely into what matters most (your vision!), and deliver on time without compromising quality of any kind - composition, production, mixing & mastering for any destination!
I received my MFA in Sonic Arts from Brooklyn College where I studied with legendary composers and engineers including Morton Subonick, Tyondai Braxton, and Angela Piva among others. I'm a Pro Tools Certified User.
In production and engineering, I'm inspired by people who are current and follow the most up to date plugins and trends that define a modernized sound. I start by organizing a track and figuring out what its priorities will be instrumentally, as well as what it needs for its development. I then go through each sound and fix any problems, enhance the sound, and blend it with the others based on its role in the track. When this process is complete, I will master the track: spectral shaping, stereo imaging, exciters, dynamic and mid/side eq, etc . . . Throughout the project I'll get feedback from the client and work with them to ensure the best possible product for their interests.
Let's create something extraordinary together - I look forward to hearing from you!

Zach is a true professional and it was such a pleasure working with him! We were able to develop two amazing compositions together. His musical range and knowledge of pitches and frequencies made him extremely useful when fine tuning the mood of both pieces.
I highly recommend Zach for your next project!
I started working with Zach not too long ago on the recommendation of very professional musicians. I am very grateful for such a recommendation, because I get a highly professional job from Zach. The results of his work are very good taste. I don't often see this quality in the profession. And even more rare is the lack of professional snobbery, even with those who need advice and guidance.
My colleagues and I have nothing but amazing things to say after working with Zach on mixing and mastering a sound track for a KORG synthesizer commercial. He did an exceptional job with the mixing and mastering process and also added valuable musical enhancements and suggestions throughout the project.
Zach is professional, efficient, easy to communicate with, and has the necessary talent to bring valuable improvements to any project. He also went above and beyond to complete the project in a short amount of time to meet our deliverable. Looking forward to the next project!
I've worked with Zach both as a vocalist on one of his projects and on a remix of one of my band's songs. He is innovative, extremely musically talented and detail oriented. You want to work with him.
Zach edited and engineered a complicated music video for my company. His attention to detail, ability to ask the right questions, timeliness and professionalism were extraordinary. We will absolutely work with him again.
I am very pleased to recommend Zach. I've had great experiences with Zach's work. We have worked together on my music for a foreign film and a music album project. He did a brilliant job mixing and mastering. He did all the work on schedule. He is a pleasure to work with...A Real Professional.
I’m a jazz singer and songwriter and have worked with Zach several times on a variety of projects. I’m always impressed by his ability to bring out the textures and specific qualities of my voice. He has an impeccable ear, an extraordinarily refined skill set, and can work in any genre. He’s also a gifted and sensitive musician/composer with a ton of heart. A joy to work with!
Zach recorded vocal tracks for an indie rock album I sang on. He did an excellent job in all stages of the process. I found him to a patient, caring, and skilled sound engineer, and he also did an excellent job checking the audio files for any quality issues and getting them to me in a timely fashion. I would absolutely work with him again in a heartbeat.
I approached Zach for help with mastering my very first home recording project, and he immediately understood what I was going for. He supported my creative vision the whole way through and brought out the best in my recordings.
Zach is a top notch engineer! He's versatile, skilled, and he respected my artistic wishes. I would work with Zach again in a second.
Interview with Zach Weinstein
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really love producers who make genre-defying and biological-sounding tracks like Prefuse 73 and Vladislav Delay. I'm also impressed by engineers who don't follow a conventional approach and are able to get amazing results by going against the grain, such as Andrew Scheps.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: MacBook, MacBook, MacBook, MacBook, and a pair of Audeze
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I'm especially good at engineering drums and vocals. I produce and compose jazz, hip-hop, various electronic genres, avant-garde, and classical.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital! There are certainly things that analog can bring that digital cannot, and digital also often has negative connotations like aliasing and "cold"-ness, but I see the shortcomings of digital becoming way less important as time goes on. There are also many plugins that have no analog counterpart, and I expect that the number of these will increase in the future.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I like to know what they are feeling aesthetically about the music. For instance, is there any instrument, section, or feeling that you would like to showcase in this work? Is there anything about this work that you feel self-conscious about or that needs to be fixed? I also ask about any deadlines and where they are planning to release the music.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: As a producer, my goal is to push sonic boundaries and expectations, while making something rhythmically and harmonically interesting. As an engineer, my goal is flexibility combined with extreme attention to detail and precision.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: After you've done the research and work to get the best referencing playback setup you can afford, the key to every engineering choice is level matching. Plugins like to tell you that they're doing better than they actually are, so invest in a meter that will confirm the plugins are improving the sound!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually produce, mix, and master work for clients remotely, and communicate with them via email and Zoom throughout the process. My strength is in getting everything to sound hi-fi and of professional caliber, but I'm also able to make creative decisions with clients if they are interested.
