Professional session drummer delivering pocket-first, song-serving drum tracks with fast turnaround and clean, mix-ready stems.
I’m a professional session drummer offering remote drum recording from a fully treated studio. I listen first and play musically, with a focus on feel, pocket, and serving the song, with restraint.
I deliver clean, phase-aligned, mix-ready drum stems with reliable turnaround. Styles include pop, R&B, indie pop, singer-songwriter, and modern groove-based music.
The process is simple — send me your track and any references, I’ll cut a pass quickly, and we’ll dial it in together if needed. I care a lot about feel, and I treat every song like it matters.

Interview with Gino West
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’m proud of projects where the drums stay out of the way but elevate the song. My role is always to support the artist’s vision and bring feel, consistency, and clarity to the track.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A mix of remote drum sessions for artists and producers working in pop, R&B, indie, and singer-songwriter styles.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: There are a lot of talented people on SoundBetter. If a project needs something outside my lane, I’m always happy to point clients in the right direction.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: A blend of both. I record real drums in a treated space and use modern tools only where they help the track translate cleanly and efficiently.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I’ll listen first, play musically, and deliver drum tracks that serve the song — on time, with care, and without ego.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping a song feel complete. When the groove locks in and everything suddenly makes sense, that’s the best part.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: How fast can you turn this around, and can we make tweaks? A: Turnaround is typically 5–7 business days (often sooner), and revisions are included. I want the drums to feel right for your song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask about references, the emotional direction of the song, and whether the drums should stay subtle or play a more forward role in the mix.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Hire someone who listens first. Clear communication and shared references go a long way toward getting the right result quickly and making the process enjoyable.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been playing drums for 20+ years across a range of styles and settings, gradually refining my approach toward session work. Over time, my focus has shifted toward feel, consistency, and delivering parts that translate well in recorded music.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Musical, pocket-driven, and intentional. I focus on feel and restraint, choosing parts that serve the song and enhance its emotion rather than draw attention to themselves.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I enjoy working with artists who value feel and musicality — where the groove supports the song instead of overpowering it. Projects that leave space and let the drums breathe are always exciting to me.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always leave space. Whether it’s drums or any other instrument, what you don’t play is often just as important as what you do.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I primarily work on pop, R&B, indie pop, singer-songwriter, and modern groove-based music, but I’m comfortable adapting to a wide range of styles as long as the song comes first.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is feel — knowing when to play, when not to play, and how to support a song in a way that feels natural and effortless.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring feel, restraint, and intention. I focus on playing musically, locking into the pocket, and enhancing the emotional direction of the song rather than drawing attention away from it.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Clients send a track and any references or notes. I listen first, get a feel for the song, and record an initial pass quickly. From there, we refine as needed to make sure the drums feel natural and serve the music.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record from a fully treated home studio designed specifically for drums. The space is dialed for clean capture, phase coherence, and consistency, allowing me to deliver mix-ready drum stems that translate well across genres.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m drawn to players and producers who put feel first and serve the song. Drummers like Benny Greb, Carter Beauford, and Ash Soan have heavily influenced how I think about groove, dynamics, and restraint — and I gravitate toward productions that leave space and let the music breathe.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I most often record live drum tracks for songs that need feel, pocket, and movement. My work is about supporting the song — whether that means subtle, minimal parts or energetic grooves that lift the track without overpowering it.
