Interview with Agustin Yonson
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been playing guitar since I was 10 years old, and I was getting into the world of recording since I was a teenager. At the age of 20 I started the recording of my first album, together with Pablo Governatori (multiple Grammy winner), and he offered me to work in the PTY studio in 2011, together with Ignacio Nacho Molino. Since then I have dedicated myself to work in the industry of the music
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I be able to develope the entire song, planning the whole production, playing all the instruments, and mixing it.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always go where the song is taking you. You may know many cool tricks, but you must make sure they are fitting right to the song you are working on.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, rock pop, or indie rock
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When I produce, my job is to "dress" the song in the most appropriate way. If we talk about mixing, I start by understanding the producer's vision, and trying to accentuate that quality.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: In the case of full instrument production, I receive the melody of the song, usually acapella or accompanied by guitar or piano, and I produce the song, playing all the instruments and mixing it. And I send the final track to be mastered. In the case of mixing, editing or tuning, I receive the tracks, work on them and deliver them at the agreed time.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I produce songs, starting from a simple idea, developing it into a finished song. Also, I mix (which means editing tracks and quantization) and vocal tuning.
