Interview with Anytroops (Sean X)
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A few months ago, I made an official remix with breakout TikTok artist Kylesimps. I remixed his song "S.I.M.P.", which has now over 10 million plays on Spotify.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Finding a vocalist for hopefully a new hit future bass song before the end of the year.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Since I'm new to this platform, currently no.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, find it easier, in general, to work with to create very similar results.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Even though I only offer 1 free revision, I want to make sure that no matter what every single client is happy with my work.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to do what I love and working with others with the same mindset!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Why my services are so cheap? I honestly just want to make good music with other people and don't really care about the money right now.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: A lot of people think I DJ. I can, but much rather stick to just producing.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: The first thing I always ask is the mood of the song.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I like to know as much as possible about any project that I'm working on, so don't ever feel like your annoying me with too much information!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Computer (can't even produce to start with), monitors (need to be able to hear), piano, audio interface, and mic.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'm still currently undecided on my career since I am a sophomore in high school. Hopefully, I can do music full-time in the future. I have been professionally producing music for 3+ years since 7th grade.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Mostly Illenium/Chainsmoker style future bass, with elements from tropical house, r&b, and pop.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Tiffany Day and Niki, both amazing vocalists who are some of my favorite artists to listen to.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Taking frequent breaks is actually the best way to be productive in my opinion.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Future bass, pop, electronic pop, tropical bass/house.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Production in the future bass genre.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to use inspiring and high-energy melodies, along with sounds and synths that will make a song be playable hundreds of times on repeat.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to first discuss general outlines with clients first. Then after the first draft, I like to get in a call and make changes directly according to what they hear.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Home studio setup with custom ~$3k computer, along with everything else needed for what I need to do.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Martin Garrix, Marshmello, Foxela
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Original Songs, EDM remixes of songs from other genres (mostly hip-hop and pop), mixing and mastering services
