Contemporary guitar tracks for pop, rock, R&B and country songs.
I provide tasteful, modern, production-enhancing electric and acoustic guitar tracks in a wide variety of popular styles (basically everything except jazz, metal and classical).
I’m returning to music after a break, so I’ve priced my services very competitively to help me build a portfolio and become established - you’ll still get quality work and 100% dedication from me. So, if you’re willing to help a committed musician build up his track record, you’ll get a bargain in return!
If you’re looking for a versatile pop guitarist, please get in touch. I’m excited to discuss your project with you.
About Me -
I started playing the guitar in my early teens (15+ years ago now), inspired by the music of the Red Hot Chill Peppers, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd.
After performing and recording with a few bands in my teens and early twenties, I took a few years off from music to get married and start a family. Like just about everyone else in the world, the COVID pandemic made me think pretty deeply about things and I decided to resume professional music activities.
Besides session work, I’m currently teaching guitar and recording demos for my next project. I’m looking forward to making lots of great music with like-minded people.
My Gear -
I play a Special Edition Fender Stratocaster with Custom Shop pickups and use a Kemper profiling amp

Interview with Carl Dawson
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Clean, bluesy, less-is-more
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The first step, always, is to listen to the song as provided. I like to listen away from the guitar, to give my subconscious some time to work. Then I’ll try out a few (usually very different) ideas to find a direction which best highlights the song. Once that has been identified, I’ll get to work on the tone and find the sound that will elevate the whole production. Once the tone has been nailed down, I’ll record the parts and provide the tracks and DI versions, for reamping at a later stage (if necessary).
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, rock, R&B, singer-songwriter, country.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I’m very production and song-focussed. I like to make tracks which sound great and which serve the song.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I started playing the guitar after hearing the music of John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix and David Gilmour, so those guys are my guitar idols. Recently, I’ve been learning a lot more about production and I’m inspired by people like Ian Kirkpatrick, Andrew Watt and Max Martin.
