It has been a pleasure working with Albert. He is very professional and with a great attention to detail. He went beyond my expectations. He is very communicative too. I highly recommend him.
I know Albert from when we studied in Barcelona Conservatorium. Since then we worked together lots of times. All I have to say is that he is an impressive composer and producer, and he has a special hability with the arrangements. His creativity is as huge as his music knowledge, from classical to specially jazz and also electronic music. And he is a tremendous piano player. He is comunicative and has attention to detail, so I highly recommend him as a professional.
I had a wonderful experience working with Albert as a producer and arrangement. He is very professional, and an incredible musician. He did a beautiful arrangement to one of my songs, and I have to say that the process was very easy, fun, and productive. I highly recommend working with him.
I have worked with Bartleby for quite a few years now and as an arranger he is one of a kind, always walking the extra mile to achieve the best possible sound for each song. He has spread his magic among many of my songs and has thus succeeded in enriching my compositions beyond expectation. I highly recommend him as a co-composer, arranger and producer.
Interview with Bartleby
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creative part and the freedom that you get.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice will be: We will have a good time and you will like the result!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A piano, a laptop, my universal audio, a pair of speakers and a synth.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a fusion of all the music I have listened to, infused with my own sensitivity and life experiences, as well as my connection to the world around me. It draws inspiration from classical music, as I have been playing the piano since I was six years old, as well as from jazz. Additionally, it incorporates influences from contemporary pop, rock, and electronic music, which I have both listened to and played throughout my life. I have a deep appreciation for black music, so it can be said that it is also an integral part of my style.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: A difficult question indeed. There are many artists I would love to work with. Right now, some that come to mind are James Blake, Portishead, Hans Zimmer, and Ludwig Goransson. If I had to choose one today, it would be Thom Yorke because I appreciate his voice, his singing style, and his creative vision. He never settles for the present and is always looking for new ways to evolve.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The most important advice I can offer regarding music production is to initially concentrate on the composition, form, and structure of the piece you are working on. It should have coherence and progress in an organic manner. I believe that at times, we are overly concerned with technology, whereas it should simply be a tool that allows us to express our musical vision.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop-rock, electronic music, classical music
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Adaptability
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Passion, energy and focus.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I begin by carefully listening to the proposed song or idea and engaging in a conversation with the client to fully understand their vision and what they are seeking to achieve. After gaining a clear understanding, I repeatedly listen to the idea or song, or even perform a rendition based on their request. This helps me immerse myself in the essence of their concept. I then experiment with different musical elements and ideas until I find something that resonates with me, and I share these initial concepts with the client to gather their feedback. Once we have established a direction that both the client and I are satisfied with, I proceed to materialize and finalize the idea, ensuring that it is fully realized and polished to meet their expectations. By following this process, I strive to create a collaborative and iterative approach, allowing the client's vision to be fully captured and transformed into a finished product that reflects their desired musical outcome.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use a mac mini m2 pro, universal audio apollo twin, a pair of yamaha hs5, line audio cm3 to record pianos. Daw: Logic Pro. I have two synths: moog sub 37 and a korg minilogue. And space echo re-201 and fx pedals such as moog moogerfooger ring modulator or tc electronics flashback. A lot of vst instruments plugins.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Musicians that inspires me: Miles Davis, Radiohead, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Herbie Hancock, Aaron Parks, MacMiller. Producers: Quincy Jones, Rick Rubin, Nigel Godrich.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: As a session musician, producer, and composer, the most common type of work I do for my clients involves helping them bring their musical vision to life. By interpreting their songs, assisting in composition, and finding the sound they are seeking, I act as a producer. I utilize my skills and experience to breathe life into their ideas, ensuring to capture the desired essence and convey the intended emotion in each project. Whether through recording sessions, music production guidance, or creative input, my primary goal is to assist my clients in achieving exceptional results and reaching their artistic goals.
